"Commander's Log: The 11th day of re'T'Khutai in the year 9052 "The Ra'kholh has recovered something we believed was launched from the Federation vessel Avalon yesterday. However, it appears to be only a booster of some sort for some other device or devices that we cannot locate on sensors. The science section theorizes that the actual probes are still out there, either cloaked or shielded to such a degree that we would have to be possibly looking out a window to see them. Needless to say, in the vastness of space, that is nearly an impossibility. What we have recovered seems unremarkable, with no new Federation secrets for us to discern. Regardless, it will be turned over for analysis when the Ra'kholh makes port. "End of entry."
"Commander's Log: The 15th day of re'T'Khutai in the year 9052 "I fear the recent incident at the Klingon embassy on Mol'rihan has placed the Romulan people squarely in the crosshairs of the klivam veruul. They are quick to anger and quick to seek vengeance even in the absence of full details. The Ra'kholh is scheduled to dock at the shipyards at Rator in thirteen hours. No doubt once our resupply is complete, General Solius will want us out there again. Whether or not this is a peace-time or war patrol shall soon be revealed. "End of entry."
"Commander's Log: The 1st day of T'keKhuti in the year 9052 "Lord Regent Solius has commanded the Ra'kholh to lead a squadron of warbirds in a strike against a suspected Tal Shiar base in the Nopada system in retaliation of their attack against a Republic warbird in Federation space. While we have little intelligence on the present state of the base, I expect a swift and decisive victory. We are due to arrive at Nopada in three verak..."
"Commander's Log: The 3rd day of T'keKhuti in the year 9052 "Our campaign against the Tal Shiar at Nopada was a success. I have detached two warbirds from this squadron to remain behind and monitor for enemy activity while the Ra'kholh and the rest of the fleet disperses in search of more phantom colonies to bring back under the banner of the Empire. We shall remain close to the rendezvous point with the Federation cruiser Avalon in the event our escort services are needed sooner than anticipated. "End of entry."
"Commander's Log: The 6th day of T'keKhuti in the year 9052 "This Admiral Sanders is not what I expected. The lord regent should bear that in mind when he meets with him tomorrow..."
"Commander's Log: The 20th day of T'keKhuti in the year 9052 "One can hardly imagine that it was merely eight days ago when I was a loyal soldier of the Romulan Star Empire. Now, after spending over a week at Mol'Rihan, that feels like another life. Integrating the Ra'kholh and her sister warbirds into the Republic's navy has been time-consuming; in spite of the actions taken against Solius, there is still a level of mistrust over bringing in so many former members of the Empire's military into the fleet of Mol'Rihan. Due to a lack of experienced officers, many of my senior staff have been reassigned to other positions, a few to commands of their own. In their wake, I've taken in a disparate lot; former farmers, former Reman slaves, even a members of species I've never even seen before. No matter; I've trained soldiers from the start of their careers as uhlans and shepherded them all the way to becoming warbird commanders in their own right. This time it will be no different. "Well, that is not entirely the truth. Word has come from Proconsul D'Tan that the Federation has granted full docking and repair privileges at facilities such as Deep Space 9 and Starbase 146 to all warbirds of the Republic. Not since the Dominion War has the Ra'kholh been welcomed by Starfleet. Perhaps in the coming days I shall meet the officers of the 146th who aided our defense of Mol'Rihan. And perhaps fight at their side once again..." "End of entry."
"Commander's Log: Supplemental "The Ra'khloh has received new orders. The Republic, owing a great debt to the Federation for all it has done to secure a future for Mol'Rihan, has tasked this warbird with proceeding to the Beta Ursae Sector Block to lend assistance to Starfleet. We are nearing the space station Deep Space 9 now, a place I and the Ra'khloh have not been to since the old days of the Dominion War. It was seem that as soon as I have found a new home, I'm being sent far away to serve its interests. Such is the life of a soldier... "End of entry."
"Commander's Log: Supplemental "Word has reached the Republic's intelligence services that the Imperial Senate has convened and nominated Senator Chavek to be the vice-chairman of the Tal Shiar, a position once held by the likes of Senator Vreenak. All I can think is that while we've defeated one demon in Solius, we may have allowed another to rise and take his place... "End of entry."

"Commander's Log: The Third Day of ta'Krat in the year 9052
"Due to the damage we sustained in battle with Nausicaan pirates, the Ra'kholh has put in for repairs and to be upgraded with the latest in Republic technology. However, I have been...ordered to take leave. It would seem Republic medical officers believe they wield the same power as Starfleet medical officers..."

"Commander's Log: The Fifteenth Day of et'khior in the year 9052
"Repairs to the Ra'kholh and the squadron proceed apace at the Federation Starbase 146 and I am pleased to report my new crew in my estimation has solidified into an effective fighting force. However, while I believe I have fulfilled my duties as a defender of the Republic and a trainer for her growing military forces, it would seem Fleet Command has added responsibilities again to a Federation starship captain. In four days time, I am to be a part of the Republic's delegation to a conference on the Federation planetoid code named Memory Alpha concerning photonic life forms and the...downfalls due to their sentience. I must confess I am not well versed in the sciences or the art of diplomacy; I have been for many decades a soldier, not an academic or a negotiator. But, the Elements find new ways to test us all the time..."

"Commander's Log: Supplemental
"Our final stop on the Ra'kholh's tour of Klingon space brought us to a border starbase. Unfortunately, our...passenger and myself were once again unable to fulfill her commander's objective, though I encountered something I personally found much more disturbing. There was a young Romulan privateer, Gorath, in the bar area espousing the way of D'era like an overly enthusiastic zealot. If I had not known better, I'd swear he was a Tal Shiar agent operating openly in a Klingon port of all places. I know Proconsul D'Tan is a practitioner of the Vulcan philosophy of the IDIC, but does infinite diversity in infinite combinations include embracing ways of life that could prove destructive to our people?
"I've dispatched our passenger back to her ship aboard the scouter gig Calam. As for the Ra'kholh, the sooner we can depart Klingon space, the better. I've had my fill of the sorts that locations like this base tend to attract, both from the Klingon Empire and otherwise..."

"Commander's Log: the eighth day of Z'at in the year 9053
"Subcommander Karis Xereth has surrendered herself as a Tal Shiar operative and is seeking asylum. I have turned her over to Subcommander Noxius' custody aboard the spire designated Theirr Itaeru. The Ra'kholh is on course for Mol'Rihan where I will submit my resignation to Admiral Kererek in person. I am guilty of allowing my personal feelings for her to compromise the security of the ship, the Republic, and our Federation allies. Whatever damage the subcommander has done is equally my responsibility and I shall take full blame for what has transpired.
"End of final entry..."

"I have handed in my resignation to Admiral Kererek. He has stated that my resignation is presently under review. That can only mean that he intends to reject my resignation in favor of a general court martial where I will be made to answer for what Karis has done. If so, I welcome it. I'd rather watch my career be set afire and left adrift if it means somehow my e'lev will walk away from this a free woman..."

"Commander's Log: the tenth day of Z'at in the year 9053
"My resignation from the Republic Fleet was rejected. Admiral Kererek cited a lack of experienced officers in forcing me to remain. He did state though that the scandal my activities with Karis produced would preclude me from being promoted to the admiralty for the foreseeable future. As much as I didn't want a flag rank, I didn't want to be denied it because of my own failings.
"I have returned to the Ra'kholh, the only home I have known for almost half a century. In time we will return to spire Theirr Itaeru, however I highly doubt any good will come from a reunion with Subcommander Xereth..."

"Let the record show that I, S'Taev tr'Dharvenek, am romantically involved with Sindari Krowlek, that we are happy together and that we care for no one else other than each other. And that in spite of our orders dividing us from each other's company, we are quite happy together..."

"Commander's Log: The 2nd day of K'riBrax in the year 9053
"The Ra'kholh has returned to Mol'Rihan where I have learned of the reason for Command's summoning the bulk of the fleet back to Republic space. The Terran Empire, a twisted and mirrored version of the Federation from an alternate universe, has begun launching attacks against space stations and facilities controlled by our Reman cousins. The reasons for these attacks is unknown and while the Republic Fleet is holding our ground with various Federation and Klingon ships answering our distress calls, the Republic Senate is expected formally ask for military aid from our allies.
"The Ra'kholh, meanwhile, is taking on supplies and additional personnel before heading out on what is technically a war patrol..."

"Commander's Log: The 12th day of K'riBrax in the year 9053
"After the Ra'kholh's arrival at Federation Starbase 146 following our tour of duty against Terran incursions against our outposts, it has come to my attention that the Starfleet officer Captain Itachi Rin was murdered by forces of the Hirogen. Sindari in her zeal attempted to retaliate only to fall into a trap laid out by the Hirogen, resulting in the loss of two dozen of her mercenaries and serious wounds suffered by Sindari herself. Although I serve the Republic Fleet loyally, I too feel the loss suffered by the 146th. Captain Rin is...was a kind person, welcoming to all, even to a former Imperial Star Navy commander like myself when I first arrived in Federation space a year ago. Her absence will be keenly felt, both Federation and Republic alike...
"And like my granddaughter, who would have been her age had she not been on Romulus when the Hobus Event occurred, she was taken from us far too soon. I intend to petition the chief engineer of Starbase 146 to expedite the Ra'kholh's repairs so that we too can join in the hunt. I love Sindari deeply, but she has a personal stake in the matter; all I seek is justice, the justice I cannot give for the child of my child...for all the children and grandchildren who perished on Romulus on that dark day so long ago..."

"Commander's Personal Log: Supplemental Entry
"Recorded under commander level security lock.
"Sindari's gone...gone in many senses of the term. I only know of what happened through the brief message sent to me by the Avalon; that Karis was wounded and she suddenly...snapped. When I tried to speak with her over subspace, she seemed beyond all reason, not even trusting the words those closest to her were trying to say. And now, she's vanished.
"I've informed Fleet Command of my intention to try to track her down, that my aim is to help the Federation's search efforts. That would be a lie, unfortunately, for if I was in Starsinger and Sanders' place, I'd know what I'd do. Sindari has apparently lost all capacity for rational thought, is in command of an arsenal that can wipe out a planet in an instant, and is headed allegedly for the territory of the Empire. If I were them, I'd destroy her before she had a chance to use her weapons. But this I cannot allow...
"Where are you, e'lev? I cannot believe your mental faculties could be so easily compromised...
"...I must now use all of my experience in attempting to locate her before Starfleet does. If can't make contact with her first, then everyone's worst nightmare will be realized..."

"Commander's Personal Log
"Recorded under commander level security lock.
"Our check of Sindari's safe haven in the Eridan Belt has proved fruitless. Either she has been here and left or she was never here at all. She has more sanctuaries than this and her home on Risa, of that I am sure. I am running out of ideas of where she might have taken shelter; the lack of a full on invasion by the Empire seems to discount what has been broadcast on Starfleet channels. If I am to find her, I must think like her, but the most damming thing of all is that she is not thinking at all right now. Republic comm traffic reports an unknown sighting at Outpost 215, but with all the Terran incursions in our territory, it is impossible to be certain. Add to that the heightened paranoia of late regarding the Undine. It would seem that my e'lev has picked the worst possible time to go off the deep end..."

"Recorded under commander security level lock.
"Sindari remains a phantom. I find myself admitting with hesitation that I alone cannot track her. Perhaps she was right ultimately; I do not know her as well as I thought I did. If I had been there yesterday at the Federation base instead of waiting for my e'lev on Risa, perhaps I could have stopped her, appealed to her. Instead I wasn't and now one of the few things in my life that is good is gone and now marked for death by the Federation certainly and the Republic if she forces the issue. But there is one man I do know of who may know more of her than I. I only hope that this Gorn's desire for revenge is trumped by his sense of right and wrong..."

"Commander's Personal Log: Supplemental
"...After the broadcast from the Scarlet Sinner last night, we were able to locate Sindari's crashed flyer on a planet in Federation space. With the assistance of Sindari's associate Ardet, we brought her aboard the Ra'kholh where she remains in intensive care in the medbay. She...she looks awful, missing an eye and an arm; hovering just above death but not getting worse, thank the Elements.
"I have dispatched Ardet to inform Karis of Sin's condition. She now is the closest thing to family Sindari has left. I am loathe to return her to Federation space until I can ascertain as to how they will deal with her. My...recent experiences with them have eroded a great deal of trust I placed in them during the past year..."

"Commander's Log: Supplemental
"...I find myself only now having the time to document the events of the past day. I had spent almost every moment since Sindari's rescue at her side in the medbay when a day ago the Ra'kholh suddenly came under attack while under cloak by three raptors. I left the medbay and headed to the bridge; by the time I arrived, the ship's weapons, shields, subspace communications array, and long range sensors were out and my e'lev had been beamed over to one of the attackers. The leader of the raiding vessels, an Andorian, signaled long enough to taunt us before all three ships warped out.
"Left with no other option, I ordered my crew to limp the Ra'kholh to Starbase 146, site of where the events that nearly claimed Sindari's life began. The base was under a lock down due to the appearance of an anomaly. The USS Exodus towed the Ra'kholh to a drydock where the ship currently remains pending repairs to the engines, sensors, and communication systems. Once finished, I intend to take this ship back to a Romulan port where she will be brought to full readiness.
"...a year ago, I felt as though I owed a debt to the Federation for their efforts and gladly volunteered to help repay that debt. Now...after all that has happened over the past few months, I find myself believing that the Federation and the Klingons for that matter don't treat us as equals. We are a mere...subfaction as far as they are concerned; the events at the Solanae and Jenolen Spheres along with what has happened to Karis and Sindari is further proof of that. If the Romulan Republic is to remain viable, it must learn to stand up for itself...and I shall use all of my clout and prestige to make our new nation stand shoulder to shoulder with the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Or not stand with them at all..."

"While at Sindari's house on Risa waiting to meet with Karis, I received word through the house's computer that Sin was alive and on Starbase 146. I took my shuttle to the base, where Captain Sanders explained to me that her mental faculties were still impaired. But hearing his words were not preparation enough for seeing the condition she is in.
"It is almost as if she is a different person; that the one I knew may be gone forever. I will remain on the base while the Ra'kholh continues repairs...and hope that perhaps there is still even the smallest sliver of the Sindari I cared for that can be saved..."
