As most of you know, for some time we were members of the STAR Armada, consisting of fellow RP fleets united with the intent to further RP opportunities and make interfleet connections for this purpose. We have been sending representatives to the Armada meetings regularly to participate in the discussions. We made a commitment to the Armada in the hopes of achieving this goal.
Recently, however, one of the members of the Armada - the Alpha Centuri Institute - was put on probation, presumably due to their fleetwide inactivity. Very shortly thereafter, another Armada member - the 26th fleet - felt it was in their best interest to withdraw from STAR. When we learned of this, we did not know their reason for withdrawing, but still planned on fulfilling our commitment to participate in Armada activities.
Today we learn by way of a plainly worded statement on STAR's site (currently unavailable due to apparent heavy server traffic) the following announcement:
"S.T.A.R. has been disbanded.
Due to irreconcilable differences, and a desire to better ourselves as a single fleet by our members, the S.T.A.R. is hearby disbanded. All Armada members will be removed if they have not left. This site will be deleted as soon as all members have left."
There was no indication from the Trust as to what the irreconcilable differences were, or whether they felt any of these differences were with us specifically. If there were, they did not bring them up with our fleet in an attempt at resolution. They did not contact us via in-game mail or PM. The only indication of the Armada's dissolution was the brief statement on the STAR site.
Needless to say, more than a few people were disappointment in this outcome, especially after all the time and effort invested into Armada participation by a good number of our members. I'd like to take the opportunity to thank all the people who did put in the time and effort, including (but not limited to) hszmv , norcaler , Tiana , slinkiisu , Chris Winters , and anyone else who took the time out of their STO gameplay to attend Armada meetings. We're looking into options concerning Armadas moving forward.
