The Storytellers are in desperate need of new Narrators to help us advanced plot. We can't do it alone. A good number of GMs are feeling overburdened by the demand for RP and underwelmed by the responses. In addition, there is also a rising demand for RP that is not starting at 7 PM EST. Finally, there are those interested in GMing at different times, but don't have any ideas or are new and don't know the fleet's direction. To that end, I am listing the four biggest RP threads facing the Storytellers as of now. These are general story ideas that need handling and can be adapted for RP ships, Lower Rank RPs, multi-ship events, or other creative exercises.
1.) True Way Prison Break - A recent coordinated simultaneous prison break has set loose hundreds of True Way prisoners being held by the Federation. While the bigger fish are frying up some big plans, that doesn't discount that we have a large amount of fanatical Cardassian terrorists wishing to harm the Federation and Cardassian Unions in any way they can. We need good officers and crews to help us track them down and bring them back to justice.
2.) Breen Cold War - After the Hammerhead's encounter with a Breen ship and with the Jenolan Accord fleets weakened thanks to the Iconian War, the Breen Confederacy have been testing the boarders and response time of the Federation and Ferengi Alliance. With our Klingon and Federation Starbases situated so close, our fleets are going to be tasked with investigating what are causing the Breen to act out... and may be called to defend should the icy relations turn hot.
3.) Pirates in the Rolor Nebula - Situated between Bajor and Ferenginar, the Rolor Nebula is the perfect place for Pirates to launch attacks on merchant vessels and pillage colony worlds within the gaseous space cloud. The 146th has long been tasked with protecting this region of space, but with a war on, oppertunistic pirates have been increasingly bold in their attacks. Will you and your crew stand against the vicious pirate lords of the Rolor?
4.) Stand Down from War - While we maintained the Homeland defenses, the fleets in the region were armed for a possible battle with Iconian forces. Mercifully, this hasn't come to our area. But now that the war is over, it's time to rebuild, bolster the fleet, and offload weapons and other war time stores from 146th and take them back to weapons depots for safe storage. In addition, Starfleet is returning to her old duties of exploration. There's a lot of space out there... It hasn't all been explored yet.
Finally, if you have plot ideas to move us along, please bring them to the fleet's attention. All are welcome and the only bad story, is the one that never got a chance to be told.
((And one more note, we are still looking for details on Season 11 content, but it's looking like there might be some Mirror Universe action in the area of space we call home... stay tuned for details on how we will handle that.))

All great ideas! A few of us have casually RP'd reinforcing the Starfleet position along Cardassian and Breen space following the Fifth Fleet's redeployment from Deep Space Nine to Earth in order to defend against the Iconians. Most of the fleet was lost during the battle, making the Beta Ursae region more vulnerable. All four of these plots can weave through that.

All of these current stories (except the stand down) are tied into the Storytellers ongoing storyline detailed here: LinkFor further In Character details of the goings on of this event I suggest reading all news stories from this (Link) one on as well as bookmarking that thread. For a glimpse into the mind of our True Way antagonist's leader you can also read the True Leader's Manifesto. The information in this thread is of course purely OOC.

*Blows the cobwebs off the thread*
Ahem. So, currently I'm attempting to wrap up my True Way/Terran Remnant Alliance arc with Avalon, and in preparation for the new year I'd like to see if we can come up with an overall idea of what's going on in our little corner of the galaxy so that GM's and players can come up with stories that actually, ya know, fit together. I'd like to see one major First Contact mission, something political with the Fed/KDF/Rommie stuff, and possibly something involving the Delta Quadrant. Thoughts?

I personally would love to give people an excuse to bring around their non-fed characters and get involved in fleet stuff, even perhaps outside of big events. Allies should interact more than once every blue moon or hostile incursion right?

Allies should interact more than once every blue moon or hostile incursion right? Well, if the fleet restructure goes as it's proposed, that could make for a solid season of RP. Kinda like DS9's first season was mostly integration.

More Romulan-inflected narratives would be interesting. So far I have three under-utilised Roms for the reason that there is nothing to motivate them.
A little related, I'm also a fan of revisiting small traffic maps to reimagine them as potential RP places. Looks like Hathon is probably going to go ahead, but perhaps we can put together a list of maps, including foundries, that might serve as inspiration for players and GMs. This includes unfriendly maps with potential hazards (Nimbus III for example) with added notes identifying potential safe zones where players won't get donged by an anthropod or something.
Silly idea?

So I had a few things I’d like to do in 2017:
Fleet Restructure is the first one. I think the easiest way to work in Klinks and Romulans would be to say they are working on their Treaty of Bajor duties as well las keeping an eye on the area, because it is getting volatile. For me, part of the fun of playing T’Kor and S’harien (God rest their souls) was they were tied to KDF and Romulan politics and Star Trek styled diplomacy. They weren’t just bad guys. I’d love to get some of those elements, especially going forward with Hathon, but maybe we have an uppity Romulan SubAdmiral who keeps demanding special treatment for his ships from the Starbase Captain.
Starbase re-establishment. I’d love to first make this a “get it fully operational”. We can say the OOC delays to getting crew and stories off of there was due to the station being so abused by the Terrans that the larger repairs saw fit to include T5 upgrades to facilities, but I would love to have an engineering team work on fixing something… maybe the T6 upgrades to the [defiant] also need to be worked out. I’d also like to have a few hostilities happen as the defenses are not up to par just yet… might be good for a random attack or too. I will be working on a huge write up of Starbase facilities. I’d also like to stress to potential players, that this is a DS9 style RP. The core cast were not all military, many were civilians.
Gangsters and Pirates: One of my favorite non-ship RP ongoing storylines was the “Pirates of Rolor”, an ongoing pirate problem in the nearby Rolor Nebula. It was mostly something Rin and I played with back and forth with our Captains. Miller, I know you and I discussed plotting involving the Orion Syndicate… Mostly it amounted to “The Orion Syndicate are a great faction, we should do something with them”. I’m going to try and reserve this for initial Starbase storyline (thread it with whatever shakes loose with STO’s Tzenkethi plotting) and to keep a presence for the non-RP ships to tackle. Hathon being a city and not a military base could allow for some storylines.
Species guides: This is more of a pet project, but I would like to do a write up of various races, especially underused ones, that has notes sourced from Alpha, Beta, STO, and Fleet lore. There are a lot of playable races in the game that Star Trek hasn’t given all the time to show on screen, and I’d like to do that.
The Breen are cool (hey, look, a pun) and maybe they’re rattling sabers. We tend to use Cardassians and Trueway for stories where we need some bad guys who are still fighting the Dominion War… but let’s keep in mind that the Breen were part of the Dominion, being the second Alpha Quadrant power to become a client state. They tend to get off lightly for that, especially considering that they made an attack on Earth that even the Klingons never would have tried. I’d like to develop stories where the Breen internal politics are trying to Make the Confederacy Great Again (I jest, with that, but given that many countries around the world are voting against globalism, and the uncertainty of many political climates, I can’t help that many a story teller are looking for a Star Trek metaphor to frame the conflict. I’d take it a step forward and say that, because the Star Trek novels explain that the Breen are built of many different species that like the Federation, but wear the suits, in part, to conceal the features that make different breen species Breen, they seem like a logical fit to tell stories where the liberal Federation runs into conflicts with a more conservative but not necessarily xenophobic society.).
Very long term goal of mine, but I have an RP ship idea that I would love to develop that would get back to TOS and TNG themes of exploring. Largely, I’m holding it a bit closer because we’ve got three ships, the Starbase, and open RP to work on right now. I’d like to see RP improve before a new ship is rolled out.
Enforce more use of the Website to update RP ships that happen. I’m going to try and revive FNN, which is an IC recap of GMed stories and non-BarRP that consolidates what happened this past week. I’d also like to enforce GMs to share what happened with the fleet. A lot of our early pick up RP was generated as a result of events on RP ships and dovetailed from there… Like the Binary Star system that was popping up in Avalon and Exodus back when I first started… Or Jarkonis, which had a lot of recurring conflicts. I don’t like the idea of RP ship GMs always needing to work different angles of the same plot, but it’s nice if their actions can get the fleet to pick up threads. As it stands, I’m very hesitant to even lay claim to knowing who GMs Exodus.
I’d also like to implement an “award system” of sorts. I’ve seen a few Play By Post Trek RP groups where they established a few military decorations that operate similar to an achievement system on a video game. Like, let’s say your Chief Science Officer technobabbles the hell out of the problem… they create a solution that works, it was totally awesome, and the GM did not even think about that answer. They should be recommended for a decoration by the Captain or another character senior to the person who did the thing.

I'm willing to volunteer for Natalia to fill whatever role may be needed. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think she'd be perfect along with the Century to handle the transition and potential upgrades for the Starbase. She could take the "Sisko"-esque role. I feel like a mark for offering to make my character important and I've yet to really prove myself as an RP'er around here. But I'm willing to do it and have great experience in leadership roles.
I'm totally okay with keeping the Century as essentially a "offscreen" ship. So people don't have to worry about another ship-RP

Technically there is a Starbase crew already. As soon as we make a decision on the move, I'm going to make a solid push on activating the Starbase.
