Republic Militia Incident Report
Preliminary Report Filing
Report Originator: R'Tal Rylov
Dissemination: Jenolan Accord Members
Summery:
On Stardate 91776.8, the R.R.W. Saratan missed a scheduled check in with the R.R.W. Maricus. The Maricus initiated a search team with nearby Jenolan Accord ships about an hour later. After an initial search, the Saratan was discovered with all systems shut down on the Breen/Federation border without crew and with all systems powered down. No life pods had been launched. Crew from the Federation Starship U.S.S. San Francisco initiated an EVA to the Saratan and booted up systems. After a systems check, which indicates that the shutdown occurred suddenly, the away team was able to beam back the data to the remaining ships. The Maricus began going through the records of the data.
Findings:
The Saratan's last logs was shortly after check in a day previous, where it indicated that a Breen Ship had appeared on long range sensors, but was not belligerent towards the Saratan. After that, no command logs were made. Data indicates that the ship maintained standard warp six for sometime before dropping warp and cloak. Almost immediately, there was a large electromagnetic spike followed by all systems going off line. The systems do not come back online until the away team from the San Francisco accessed the computers.
Working theory at this time is that a Breen ship used an energy drain weapon on the Saratan and harmlessly beamed the crew off the Saratan. Other sensative equipment may have also been taken. The Breen do not have formal relations with the Romulan Republic and still acknowledge the Romulan Star Empire as the legitimate government of the Romulan people. The Breen may use them as slave labor, but they would see the value in using the crew as a bargaining chip to curry favor with Imperial powers. It would be prudent to seek intervention through the United Federation of Planets or the Klingon Empire to retrieve the Saratan crew before they are turned over to the Empire, where they will likely be considered traitors and spies and turned over to the Tal Shiar for "re-education".
