Announcement thread on Arc.TL;DR, as of March 17th, 2017, Star Trek Online will no longer support Windows XP and/or DirectX 9. A list of recommended upgrades is in the link.

A friendly reminder that STO will stop supporting Windows XP and Direct3D 9 beginning this Wednesday, March 1st.

This means most likely a code cleanup that will make the game executable a little smaller and easier to maintain. I'm kinda surprised they supported two DirectX engines for as long as they did. Might actually see more and better bug fixes now.

Yeah, it also kind of means if your PC and/or graphics card didn't like Direct3D 11 before, you're kind of in for a rough ride.
