Drogo entered his office aboard the River of Latinum and settled into his chair. It was, he felt, the most rewarding part of his day. Five minutes in the luxurious pressen leather chair was enough to help him get through most of his staff reports without losing his sense of calm. He sipped a glass of Chateau Picard, a 2401 blend that reminded him of his first and only trip to Paris. He silently hoped this day would go as well as that one.
Putting down the glass, he tapped a few keys and a series of holo screens sprang to life, each showing a different contact from his organization. He believed that daily face time provided a vital connection with his employees, one that encouraged their proficiency while reinforcing their position in the organization. Often as not, the daily briefings were as much about brainstorming as they were about cursory reflections on the data already shared in written reports.
"Good morning everyone. I hope you've all had profitable days." He glanced around, and most nodded their heads, or at least moved their cranial appendages, in some fashion that indicated their relative success. "Shar, let's start today with your update. Are you certain that Xel Raego has been released from prison?"
"Yes, sir. I have observed his conversations, and the details he shared have been confirmed by contacts on Onthas V. He appears to be re-asserting his role in Ziritas very quickly."
Drogo frowned as he pondered the thought. "I guess that stands to reason. Father always said Raego was bull-headed and single-minded about his business. Anyway, what's this about Krieger weapons?"
"A couple conversations with, or at least near, the gardener and Captain... Fuzzypants," Drogo tried to prevent a smile at Shar's hesitance to use this illogical code phrase, "involved mention of pistols, and possibly other developments from Apgar Industries."
"Apgar? By the Nagus! Brokers were calling them a 'sell' last week!" The illumination from another display dimmed slightly as the Medusan responsible for monitoring the exchange expressed its embarrassment. Drogo shook his head and sighed. "We'll have to deal with that later. Other news?"
"Daimon Hog has apparently closed a significant deal recently, as he celebrated openly last evening. Daimon Qul continues to unsuccessfully peddle ship components and swimwear to inhabitants of the station. Daimon Paig is the target of multiple bounty contracts. Daimon Zork's gorn associate bought a ship and left for the Gamma Quadrant."
"A ship sale, nice. Wait, what was that about the bounties?"
"Information from Hadron and other customers indicates that several bounty hunters have frequented the station looking for Paig. The bounties emanate from different sources."
Drogo looked about the images, "If any of you pick up details on Paig, feel free to monetize the information as you see fit." He looked back at Shar, "One last thing, do you have an update on programming the sets for the t'Aimne manuscripts?"
"The programming has proceeded slowly and consistently. I estimate that sets should be fully prepared and tested within two weeks."
"You hear that, Dutch? Get on the ball with casting and find a Reman or two that both fit the romantic lead bill and that can stand being under the lights and cameras for more than an hour a day."
"Good work, Shar. Not ideal, but good. Next, Terrax, update on the Minos excavation..."
