With Norcaler's departure as GM of Avalon, I am reassuming the position for the summer. As such, I have several things I'd like to say before I begin.
First, I'd like to thank norcaler for standing up and taking over for me during the winter semester. Without him, Avalon would have been put on indefinite hiatus, and I don't think anyone wants that. GMing Avalon is not an easy position, and to voluntarily take the job on top of his other duties is commendable. Thank you, Norc. Sincerely.
Second, I need to make it clear in no uncertain terms that I am running the summer only. When school starts back up, I will have absolutely zero free time to do anything between work and classes. Regardless of whether there is a replacement GM or not, I will be stepping down 16 Aug 17. If there is not a replacement GM, that will be the last Avalon session until further notice.
Following up to that, I am accepting candidates for GM training under my tutelage. While most of GMing is instinct and balance, I am willing to share any and all tricks of the trade with interested parties. As an RP Fleet, we live and die by our GMs. It is important to have people ready to assume the role, not just for our scheduled RP ships but for random events, impromptu story lines, and ideally an overall narrative. limi has already volunteered to study the GM Arts, and I look forward to teaching anyone else that is willing to step forth.
Third, this is going to be an exciting season for Avalon. New plots will take the ship where no one has gone before, and old friends and enemies will return. With that in mind, I request permission from everyone to be able to take their characters out of general play for multipart stories. Details of the plot will not be given, however I will notify everyone at the end of an episode that this is a multipart event. I cannot do this without acceptance from every member of the crew. I will be approaching each one of you individually until I either have everyone's permission or I am flatly refused. I will not announce the names of individuals that choose not to allow their characters be removed from play. I do however encourage that you be open to the idea.
Fourth, due to my work schedule we will be starting NLT 1910 EDT and ending NLT 2110 EDT. I will give a half hour warning to the end time so everyone may wrap things up. Exception will be for multipart episodes which will resume where the characters leave off. You may feel a little pushed, but this is the only way I'll be able to run things for the foreseeable future.
Last, I am as always accepting applications for guest stars. Anyone interested in being a part of Avalon stories without being on the Avalon, please contact me. I will put out a call ahead of time for specific character types, or even specific characters as the stories progress. Message me either on the forums or ingame.
I hope everyone is looking forward to this summer season of Avalon. It's gonna be yuge, and we're making the Klingons pay for it!
