Chief Engineer's Log: Stardate: 88625.7
Keep it short and sweet. Been watching the FNN forecasts about the U.S.S. Regent's Maiden Voyage. From the Engineering standpoint, she looks like a 'Pocket-sized Odyssey' given some of the design elements that have gone into her. Personally I like her look, aside from the 'forward sweeping Pylons' and the 'Flat-front Deflector' region... but my heart always stays with a Sovereign-class, every time.
Recently, Pal's been asking me to see if I can get my hands on the new 'Wind Angle Targeting System' the Regent has been outfitted with. I've tried to convince her that the Targeting system is still in the Prototype stages and there are bugs to iron out, as is the case with all Prototype systems and equipment. Even so, Avalon's been given backloged priority on the Industrial Fabricator. We'd be lucky to get the Tiberius in for Refit time just to keep up to date some of the ships in the fleet.
Beyond that. Admiral Chakotay is bound to have something for the Tiberius to do... I've noticed some of the dirty looks the Starbase personnel have given just because we're on detached service to SI. It's like they think the Tiberius is glorified 'Section 31' because we're at Admiral Chakotay's call as and when needed... We're still part of the Defence Force, despite Pal's adamant objections to move the ship AWAY from the Starbase because I have a noted explosive and passionate temper where my family are concerned.
Till then. All I can do is bury myself in work until either this blows over or the Jarkonis situation turns the Federation into a Farce of what it was.

Personal Log: Stardate 88876.5
Today's my third day on Mol'rihan... and it's honest to say it's everything that the whispers and rumours say it is. and more. The surrounding terrain is fantastic, and construction of Mol'rihan City is progressing faster than I would have imagined form an engineering Standpoint. For all that I've been finding myself spending a lot of time in the Epohh fields helping tag the local wildlife whilst trying to dissuade Hirogen poachers.
Tonight though. Tonight I was tempted to visit the Embassy the Diplomatic Corps were allowed to establish in Mol'rihan City... I can tell Jason's hands were the ones that outfitted the interior with Federation Equipment, bit bare bones but that's to be expected, the same was with the Starbase when we only used the prepared interior and the bare-minimum of exterior plating, given time and permission, we can use the Trasnwarp Gate in orbit to ferry more equipment and make the place more... well, Embassy like.
Speaking of Jason, I had a while to catch up with him away from Pal's eagle-like eye looking over our shoulders... and a good thing too. Jace pulled me one side to the Ambassadorial Office and tell me about something that's been concerning his personal life... something about Darren and dreams of a coming Armageddon for the Romulan people. I can't say much because I promised him the bulk of what we talked about stayed in the office behind the acoustic filter. HE tried to put a brave face on it... even tried making a few jokes and reminding him that, as the elder sibling, I can invoke my writes to terrorise him. That aside he seemed genuinely terrified about what these dreams entailed, and confused about some aspect of them dating back to when he took Centre Seat of the Avalon... again something I can't mention.
Honestly I hope things turn out better for Jace, despite the nightmares he's having, and I hope that I can help him in some manner, no matter how small or insignificant it may be. Till then I need to slip back into bed before Pal finds out she's been snuggling a pillow for the last hour or so.

Chief Engineer's Personal Log. Stardate: 88903.9
First of all, I'd like to say this Log is being recorded from the new USS Tiberius, orbiting Mol'rihan as the new head of the Federation Task Force assigned to assist the Romulan people establish the new Capital Planet. Would've liked it to be better but Pal had suffered an earlier injury, meaning she couldn't take the center seat for this one.
Regardless, we're here now, despite an earlier altercation with a Tholian Battleship attempting to ensnare the Reman occupied facility known as 'The Vault' in the Haakona system, claiming it belonged to the Assembly despite being half a quadrant away from established Tholian Space. Perhaps it was best with Crazy Ivan in charge given his 'shoot first' policy if they are a threat to 'The Mighty Federation'. I have to say despite being a new ship, the Tiberius fared pretty damn good against the Tholians. Sure the Avalon and the Kilamanjaro came to the rescue, but I'm sure Ivan will cite numerous technicalities with Tiberius scoring the kill on the Tholian Battleship... and I got to admit, the new Tac officer was pretty crazy-smart to use our supply of Metreon Gas as a Torpedo type... I like him already, despite being a Vulcan.
Still, each time I look out the window of my personal quarters, aka, my 'workshop', I look on Mol'rihan and all I think about is.... well... I feel like I have a home once in my life.

*The Log begins recording as Varal walks into her 'Workshop' the assigned quarters she was given aboard ship she's re-purposed. Varal walks in, hair matted, her uniform smeared to death in oils and other such after Three days trawling up and down through the length of the ship making sure everything work as it should after Lydia's modifications of the Cyber Warfare suite, as well as making sure the 'Earwig' Apparatus was still working*
"Ugh... Don't ask me for the Stardate, you know it's me, just add it later."
*The computer beeps in response as Varal walks across camera to where the bathroom would be in her quarters*
"Well the last three days were fun. Never in my life have I been so accustom to the interior workings of a Starship as I am now with the Tiberius. Three days, sleeping on nothing but a bed-roll eating M.R.Es and Protein snacks and the lack of a good bath just to make sure she doesn't suddenly lose all power in a fight like last time."
*Varal's voice now sounds like it's coming from the bathroom area, the doors clearly having been removed for 'walk-in purposes'.*
"Still. If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing right, No matter how long it drags you away from family and friends. First was the Cyber Warfare suite, meant spending a day in the Computer Core to make sure, running tests and simulations to make sure we can't be hacked and the upgraded countermeasures could react in time... short of installing Lydia's concious mind as an A.I, we're as secure as we can be from remote hacking and remote control operations.
Let's see, what else...
Oh yes. Tactical system upgrades. Lydia made an off hand remark a few weeks ago that our tactical systems weren't as pin-point as she had come to expect from a ship near-recently off the line of the Utopia Planitia Shipyard. Then again a lot of last minute changes were being made when the then 'USS Cameron' was to make room for the new 'Earwig' device, in my mind the best-slash-worst intelligence-gathering device ever conceived by Starfleet intelligence. Best because it allows us to pick up unsecure comms over several light years distance than a normal communications array, unless you're actually wired into MIDAS... worst being the upkeep. Several isoliniar chips and an EPS coupling are suffering ware and tare given the strain just to put an ear to communication beyond the average communications range. S.I can expect a report on it and with any luck, they'll give me an updated parts and materials list so the Earwig can function longer over prolonged periods of time."
*Eventually, Varal walks out of the bathroom area, dressed in her green top, tan-coloured jeans and maroon, thigh-high boots, looking a lot cleaner and her hair well groomed*
"Still. Not bad for three days work. Not to go see if the rest of the fleet think I'm dead or not."
