I've been asked by the pathfinders to write this post because...well, because I'm apparently very good with words. In this post, there will be information detailing things that the Pathfinders have been discussing over the past few weeks.
We will begin with the structure of the fleet - There will be a more orderly structure in place very soon. No, it won't be to the point we used to be. But with a fleet our size, it's something that's needed. What does this mean? Guardians are being encouraged to do their duties in policing chat. They are asked to keep things civil, and end a topic if things are getting heated.
If you are asked to stop, then please do so. If you don't, then you may be talked to privately about the issue. Because of a bugged 'mute' button in our crossover chat, the Pathfinders have seen fit to set our Crossover channel to private, and that as a last resort for someone not listening and continuing on, a temporary removal from the channel would be in order. The bug is STO-wide, and makes it impossible to unmute someone who's been muted, even after being removed.
Now, this is, as I said, a LAST RESORT MEASURE. People in this fleet should be adult enough, and smart enough, to know when not to poke the bear. This does not give guardians carte blanche to use their authority as they see fit, and boot people for no reason. If you feel a Guardian is abusing their power, then let one of the pathfinders know, and things will be investigated.
Our new Guardians are just that - new. We haven't had these kinds of rules in place in a long time, so please bare with them for a little bit as they get used to it.
Also, this change will not be executed immediately. This is the formal announcement that the change will happen on Wednesday, February fifth. This is so people have the time to hear about it, understand, and ask questions.
Now, why are the Pathfinders choosing to do this? Because, as has been stated, in order to get our fleet back into a cohesive unit that's spending time having fun instead of fighting, we need to get structure back in place. Having rules, and having people to enforce them, makes that structure stand. It's not like our rules are difficult, either. Nothing is hard about being civil, not making racist/sexist jokes, etc in public chat.
I think we can all live with this particular change.
If the Pathfinders see fit to ask me to write up about anything else, I'll add it here. Thank you.
