Today will be the opening of nominations for the position of Pathfinder, after which the fleet will vote. In keeping with a recent suggestion in the forums, we're going to outline the requirements in detail, so there is no confusion.
If you wish to nominate someone, notify Kal or me by in-game email. You may not nominate yourself, and nominations of anyone who has been put on a final notice on disciplinary grounds will be declined. Candidates may not currently hold the IC position of Fleet Admiral, since Fleet Admiral required someone without IC/OOC authority for that position. Once nominated, the person will be contacted and asked if they will accept the nomination. The person DOES have the right to refuse. Nomination will not force someone into the election.
The intent is to have three pathfinders at the top so that no one person contains all of the power. The Pathfinders are there to be guides and stewards of the fleet, and will be called upon to make the big, tough decisions that sometimes need to be made. While the fleet is a democracy, and everyone has a voice, the Pathfinders sit as the emergency decision makers.
At times a Pathfinder will also perform the duties normally attributed to Guardians, Mentors, or Mediators if there doesn't happen to be one of those online.
Anyone accepting a nomination will need to accept that the position will require patience and an open mind. You may find yourself at times innundated with fleet business, and it may interfere with roleplaying once in a while. A Pathfinder will need to make themselves available to, and reachable by, the other Pathfinders. And the position is not about authority or power so much as responsibility. We do not dictate on people's backstories, characters, or RP; those are things handled by Storyteller GMs and fleet vote.
Nominations will be open til Sunday, 6pm EST
