"Group Commander's Log, Entry One-Twelve,
Despite our desire to move and support efforts against the Undine in the Sol System, recently, we were instead sent on a mission to investigate supposed Iconian ruins at the fringes of Klingon space. Whilst I've no doubt that my science officer enjoyed herself immensely, I am the Commander of a battle group, not a science expedition.
It's insulting to be left out of one of the biggest battles of the last few years, but...I suppose orders are orders...hnh.
I hate politicians.
Our current orders, as they stand, are to divide the group and move on a number of fronts. I'll be dispatching several ships to help with the cleanup operations around Earth, and the Klingon Homeworld, whilst I personally attempt to deal with co-ordination, and a number of issues which seem to have arisen with the 146th fleet.
We are allies, are we not?
We shall see when we arrive, in the morning.
In other, happier news, our new weapons array is finally online, after several weeks of excuses and failure. I look forward to testing them to their extremes. Heh.
End Log Entry."

"Group Commander's Log, Entry One-Thirteen,
Sometimes it pays to stay connected to...less-than-reputable businessmen, it seems.
Upon 'prompting', we managed to retrieve some interesting information about one of Starfleet's ships, the Gungnir. Yes, the one that my estranged 'brother' is serving on. Evidently it went missing near the Badlands a few days ago. Starfleet supposedly intends to send a vessel to make sure everything's alright, and that they haven't been destroyed or abducted.
Since we're in the immediate vicinity, thanks to our proximity to Starbase 146, I've offered the services of my flagship to accompany the Starfleet vessel. With any luck, we'll have the Gungnir back at Starbase 146 within a few days, although...'luck' doesn't seem to apply to reality, sadly.
In other news, my crew seem to be adapting more easily to the four-shift rotation again than the three-shift we've been running them on for the last few weeks. News from Earth and the Klingon Empire has...lifted my spirits, so to speak, however, as news of their rebuilding is promising.
Still.
I can't shake the feeling that this isn't over yet. That there's something else coming. Neither terrans nor Romulans have a word for it, but the closest thing would be 'instinct', I suppose.
Part of me hopes I'm wrong, for the sake of the Republic, the Empire, and the Federation.
But mostly? I hope I'm right, and I'll finally find a worthy foe.

"Group Commander's Log, Entry One-Forty-Two,
The Averek has suffered heavy damage at the hands of the Borg Sphere we encountered in grid zero-nine-five-two. We were able to destroy the Sphere, along with its...'escort', however.
Notably, we lost our Chief Weapons Officer, who will need to be replaced immediately. Our primary weapons array is nonfunctional, and our warp drive has only periodic stability, allowing us to only utilize short warp 'hops'. We've set a course back to Starbase 146, although it could be several days before we arrive, and until we do, we have no way of contacting them.
The systems on this vessel are completely inappropriate for a 'command ship'. I've ordered a complete overhaul of the disruptor arrays once we dock for repairs, as well as the installation of some non-regulation shield modifications. It's time the Averek commanded some respect on the battlefield.
In other news, it seems as though my many long years of searching may have yielded results. There may indeed be others of my kind left, besides my 'family'. It seems as though our creators may have created a small, isolated colony, as a contingency of sorts. This colony, however, is on the other side of the Beta Quadrant, far away from here, or my homeworld.
Something to keep in mind for the future, I suppose.
Nngh. Computer, remind me to dock us under cloak. I don't need to see Starfleet's smug expression as we vent plasma everywhere.
