(This is still a work in progress. For instance, I just noticed and corrected her birth year and age not lining up with the current time.)
Wen Eira: A 20 year old female Bajoran. Wen is her family name, and the only name she goes by.
Born 2393 in a rural province on Bajor, she helped her parents on their farm. Her interests lay elsewhere, however: she'd spend hours awake at night looking at the stars, At age 14 she quietly applied to a pre-academy training program. She was denied but when her parents discovered she'd applied they were fully supportive. She applied directly to the Academy at 15 and was also rejected, but was accepted at 16.
In the Academy, Wen is something of a generalist, though she did specialize in sub-light drive systems and structural integrity fields. She plans on serving on a starship for a few years, then returning for a second pass to update her command skills.
She spent her third year aboard a training Nova class ship. She shadowed several of the general techs, and helped with several impulse drive tunings, and helped install a more efficient impulse drive. Due to a minor incident in her second year, she wasn't able to graduate after four years and had to stay an extra couple of months into the next term.
She has a sister three years older than her, who's getting married soon. She also has a younger brother. Her parents are both very much alive.
In appearance she's physically fit and capable but fairly plain. She dyes her hair purple. It's subdued for purple, but it's still purple. Her natural hair color is brown, with just a hint of red.
Wen has solid beliefs in right and wrong, and a rebellious streak she's so far managed to button down pretty tightly. She's quick to follow orders if she agrees with them or is neutral about them, but would resist unethical orders strongly. Her rebellious streak hasn't really been exposed by the Academy yet. She's generally thought of as being obedient, but is quick to step forward and lead. Including some situations she shouldn't, but the person who should have wasn't doing so.
She's friendly but guarded. People would be unlikely to call her "silly," they might call her "stuck up," but they'd be wrongly interpreting her awkwardness.
She knows basic self-defence through a Bajoran discipline. ((If there are any in cannon, let me know.))
Her creative outlet is painting. She's not very good yet. She's also done some dancing, and is unlikely to injure anyone on the dance floor.
She has no real hatred of Cardassians, having been born into a world Cardassians had long since departed, and being raised by parents who tried to be forgiving.
In the 23rd century, she'd have been an excellent captain. In the 24th century, she'd probably have joined the Maquis. In the 25th century, she's likely to flare out before she reaches captain. If she does, she'll probably end up a trader or a pirate.
