tlhIngan Thursday was launched a couple years ago as a way to keep Klingon characters and storylines going. We've struggled to keep interest in it for a lot of reasons. With the new year underway, I'd like to entertain a discussion on how to increase the energy for those interested and keep it going.
So, let's start that discussion here, and then plan for an open discussion in the next week or so.
What are your thoughts about doing station RP instead of plain BaRP?
Could the focus be on RP-ing through fleet mark queues, stfs and missions?
Does the fleet need a political nemesis or an enemy faction?
Do we need a starbase event?
Please feel free to answer any of these and throw in your own suggestions.
Thanks!

What if Fed Storytellers vs KDF Storytellers? O.o

The biggest issue I've seen is even when we have interest and people show up half the regulars come to the bar and stand there AFK. I wont name names but you know who you are. This not only takes away from RP b/c you're not talking or interacting but gives an impression of both lack of interest in the goings on and can get really annoying when its a weekly thing. That aside I think we need to get away from the bar. BaRP is fun as a casual setting but it does get old. Klingons and their allies are strong, willful, combative peoples with rich cultures that can do much more interesting things than drink and argue. People get skiddish about IC combat but I'd love to see some duels out on the main floor in front of the memorial wall. Maybe some Starbase RP events every other month. Not personally a big fan of RP'ing queues but some might be into that as well. One of the ideas I had is to one night have everyone go to the Officer of the Watch and be assigned random missions then group up with others with the same mission and RP that. I would be open to possibly attempting some Starbase events as a GM in the future. Additionally I think it's very important moving forward to plan more fleet RP events with both factions in mind. What if Fed Storytellers vs KDF Storytellers? O.o The KDF and Federation are working together at this point. The House of Ka'rel and 146th Fleet have always been on good terms. I don't see this as an option.

No offense HS, but don't think this is the place to put a request like that.
On topic, I would love for this to become a regular thing again, it would give a chance for people being introduced to KDF side RP to develop their characters. There just isn't enough time to have interactions between characters aside from getting things done during the Hammerhead sessions.
Half of the RP of joining an existing crew is to understand why people are there and what they are there to accomplish aside from the service of the Empire/Alliance. Because Klingons/Orions/Ferasans/etc are people too ;P
My suggestion is to have perhaps small events, be it on the Shipboard or on the Starbase, involving issues that arise when we aren't killing the flu with disruptors.

Well, I did ask about whether we could use a villain or foil of some kind. I'm glad to hear that HS has an idea, and if anything, HS is known for his bad guys. Unfortunately, that doesn't quite answer whether that's going to hold everyone's attention.
It does raise some other good questions, though. Should this be someone that starts as a personal adversary for a few characters and then gets global, or a more general threat of that gets personal in some way?

One of my thoughts was that it would be an agent from the Klingon Intelligence Special Services (I am well aware of the acronym.). My thought is that of all the major groups in the Alpha Quadrant... We don't here much about Klink squirrels. The standing reason is because Klingon intelligence is deemed oxymoronic. But, when I hear of an Intel org that no one knows anything about... It's because the org is very good at what they do.

They're the guys sitting back and laughing when something goes wrong in an enemy stronghold...CAUSE THEY DID IT AND NOBODY EVEN KNEW!
