As the log begins, the tone of Romulan's voice seems rather hurried.
"Personal log... I must make this brief, but I must also make record of this while I have the chance."
"We've been swallowed by a gargantuan... creature of sorts while it was apparently feeding on other space dwelling lifeforms. Whether we were in the wrong place at the wrong time, I am not certain, but we are clearly not the first ship this creature has ingested."
"I have been instructed to accompany an away mission to a wrecked Imperial Romulan vessel to see what we can extract from their data banks. We may also have company onboard that vessel, and I doubt it will be friendly."
"End log."

The log opens with a moment of pause before the voice of a weary Romulan is heard.
“Personal log…”
“We have freed ourselves of the creature… but not without substantial frustration. The Romulans that we ‘rescued’ turned on us and nearly destroyed the ship after sabotaging one of our warp cores. Many of them were killed, but the Commander apparently escaped…”
A heavy sigh is heard before he continues, a tone of exasperation creeping into his voice.
“I don’t know what happened during the interrogation, but it was clearly more than the chief of security was willing to let on. Quite frankly, I can’t decide what I find more infuriating, the fact that she came just short of lying to us, or that she let her guard down enough for this to happen. As much suspicion as the crew likely has of me, you would think those of the Star Empire…”
“Regardless, there is little to be done now, and after… thirty two hours of organized flailing, I need rest as much as the rest of the crew likely does.”

The log is in text format.
Since the Hammerhead was hijacked, I've not had the time or the desire to make any entry into a personal log. Today, however, a very disturbing realization hit me, and I feel I must make record of it somehow.
A second attack occured today, a Federation Spacedock near the Klingon border was struck and mostly destroyed. With the use of the Avalon's computers, T'Mith and I were able to determine an "area of risk". The location of the Federation colony in relation to the Spacedock suggested that the renegade fleet is striking systems along the Klingon border. If this continues, they will reach the Romulan colonies that sit along the border, including my home planet of Nequencia.
The reality that my parents are in harm's way while I am away is greatly unsettling. Even more unsettling is the fact that there is little that I could do even if I was there. It rests with the powers that be and the will of the Elements to ensure their safety.
My greatest fear at the moment is for my father. Our last conversation before I left was a rather unpleasant one, and though he still refuses to speak with me directly, I have held hope that he would change his mind. I don't want the angry words I exchanged with him nearly five years ago to be our last.
The company of a fellow Romulan that I find with T'Mith helps me greatly, but it can only do so much...
The log seems as if more was intended to be put in, but it ends there.

“Personal log.”
“There is both good news and bad news.” There is a tone of weariness, and yet a hint of relief in his voice.
“The good news is that the Hammerhead is no longer in the hands of the renegades. The bad news is that it is currently sitting in the bay off the main colony on New Romulus. I’ve not been told what put her there, or why the colony was swarmed by Tholians, but I’m sure it’s a very interesting story…” a distinct sigh can be heard.” that can wait until tomorrow. Right now, I am simply thankful that both places I consider home are safe.”
There is a good ten second pause before he speaks again.
“It’s odd when I think about it, but the anxiety of the past two weeks was more frightening than actually being shot at. I knew when I took this assignment I would eventually be in the line of fire with no hull or walls of metal between myself and the enemy, but I never knew how I would react to the reality of it. Though I suppose when the enemy is storming your doorstep, the reality of it is fight or die."
“Or perhaps the Klingon mentality is rubbing off on me.” He says rather humorously.
“As for the current situation, it seems we will be staying on New Romulus to assist with cleanup operations. The ordinance disposal alone will be a slow process, and the prospect of moving the Hammerhead isn’t exactly thrilling. She had a temper to her when we had the luxury of helm controls, I imagine she’ll be even less cooperative now that she is half submerged.”
There is one last pause.
“I remember when I first set foot on that ship, I thought to myself this would be at least an ‘interesting’ assignment. Considering what has happened since then, I’ll have to find a new word to describe it.”
“End log.”

“Personal Log”
“It has been a very eventful few weeks. We lost a colony, several ships, and a Captain to the Borg, but we drove them away. That’s the most anyone can ask for against them. In the process, there were some close calls… closer than I’d like to think. Without getting too into detail, I decided that I couldn’t let my position get in the way of promises any longer.”
“I finally made the decision to return home for a week to see my family. I had been putting it off because didn’t expect the late Captain or the Commander to be very… understanding of it. When I actually addressed it with Tonk, however, she pointed out that I was ‘honoring obligations’. Looking back, I probably should have seen that myself.”
“Tonk also seemed to be insistent about coming with me to Nequencia. She said she was “curious about my parentage”… I truly hope that was the bloodwine speaking and not her.” He says nervously.
“Galan sent word back that he can take some time to come by this time. Perhaps Father won’t spend the week finding things to keep himself busy to avoid having to look me in the eyes. I’ve never understood why he has gone so far to avoid me. I want him to explain himself to my face instead of hiding away somewhere this time…”
He gives a sigh. “Wishful thinking I suppose, but there is no harm in trying. Either way, I’m going to make the most of my time there.”
