Captain's Log, U.S.S. Claren, Captain Louise Alderman, Commanding.
The U.S.S. Claren is currently en route to Starbase One Four Six, after escorting the U.S.S. Yorktown to the edge of the Sirius Sector. The Yorktown failed its assessment period, and all four ship of the class have been recalled to be rebuilt. As a result, I have been transferred aboard the U.S.S. Claren as it's commanding officer. Since nothing of note has happened aboard this ship, I shall detail the last operation the U.S.S. Yorktown took part in.
Following a distress call from the Romulan Militia Command on New Romulus, U.S.S. Yorktown accompanied Starfleet Assets in transwarping to the Tau Dewa sector, where we discovered a pitched battle between Romulan Milita Defence Forces, Starfleet assets already on scene, the rogue elements of the Klingon Defense Force, including the hijacked I.K.S. Hammerhead, Loyalist Klingon Forces and tholian forces, including a Tarantula Class capital ship, which had fired someform of power-restricting nodes to create a web, which had captured a large portion of the Starfleet vessels.
Immediately, Yorktown's fighters were scrambled and ordered to break the web while Yorktown herself moved to intercept the Hammerhead, which was on a direct course for New Romulus. En-route, torpedo's were fired towards a Tholian Recluse, which contributed to it's destruction.
Shortly after, Yorktown received confirmation that the Hammerhead was adrift and moved to secure the vessel with tractor beams. However, due to the mass and velocity of the Qu'Daj class vessel, it had attained a velocity that meant the Yorktown was unable to stop the Hammerhead. I requested assistance from the Loyalist KDF Forces, and a Vo'Quv carrier also joined us in attempting to stabilize Hammerhead's orbit.
We were unsuccessfuly. The Vo'Quv blew out a nacelle and Yorktown was pulled down from it's orbit of 120,000km to 100,000km. Due to the strain, safeties kicked in and disabled the tractor beam. At this point, there was little chance in stopping the ship, and it impacted one of New Romulus's oceans. Thanks to the efforts of the Yorktown and the Vo'Quv, we were successful in preventing the Hammerhead achieving sufficient velocity to create an impact-based core breach.
Yorktown stayed in orbit until a loyalist KDF vessel arrived in orbit to assist in munitions withdrawal, before returning to Starbase 146 for carrier operations assessment.
End log.

Captain's Log, U.S.S. Claren, Captain Louise Alderman, Commanding.
The U.S.S. Claren is currently berthed at Deep Space Nine, undergoing munitions and prisoner transfer with the I.K.S. bIp Ho' of the Klingon Defence Force, following their apprehension in the SPR-5195 system, in the Draylon Sector, following an attempt at purchasing said munitions from a Ferengi D'Kora. The Claren came upon them while attempting to continue our investigation of the SPR-5195 subspace lifeforms, to discover elevated tachyon emissions, a KDF registered freighter and a Ferengi D'Kora broadcasting, in the clear, attempting to sell their munitions.
Advancing to Yellow Alert, Claren moved to lurk in system, attempting to garner more intelligence, when a Klingon K'Vort Class Bird of Prey decloaked and after a brief conversation, fired on the D'Kora, while a B'Rel and a D-7 decloaked, locked tractor beams on the freighter and warped out.
Claren immediately advanced to Red Alert and moved to engage the K'Vort. Our first salvo punched through their shields, which leads me to assume that these ships weren't Imperial Sanctioned. This is further compounded by the knowledge acquired afterwards from Commander T'onk of the Klingon Defence Force, and the First Officer of the I.K.S. bIp Ho' , revealed that these ships had markings associated with the House of Torg, discommendated in 2409 for forming a working alliance with elements of the Imperial Tal'Shiar.
With the K'vort disabled, Claren moved to pursue the two fleeing ships, immediately ordering them to stand down or be fired upon, while locking a tractor beam on the freighter, immediately preventing the freighter from being moved. The D-7 moved to hover over the freighter, while the B'Rel attempted to disable Claren's tractor beam. Both vessels were fired upon, with the B'Rel fleeing and the D-7 being disabled.
Following this action, prisoners from the K'vort and the D-7 were beamed aboard the Claren, along with what were discovered to be a handful of Klingon Hargh'Peng torpedo's. I plan on penning a message to Commander T'onk with the scans taking of the fleeing B'Rel, in the hopes that it will help in apprehending the House of Torg fugitives operating in the Draylon and Bajor sectors.
In regards to personnel, Claren has acquired another Commander, Commander Varel, who while also being Beta Shift Executive Officer, will also command the saucer should a seperation be required, while Commander Orlay remains with myself and the Stardrive. Lieutenant Commander Guere has worked out well in the position of Tactical and Security and Second Officer, and Claren's Chief Engineer, a liberated member of the Borg Collective, appears to be settling in well.
There are rumours of something big on the horizon. For now, Claren will continue to secure the security and peace of our operating area, until ordered otherwise.
End log.

Captain's Log, Supplemental. Claren has dropped from warp in orbit of of a Blue Giant star. I've asked Engineering to bolter shields with the auxiliary batteries until Astrometric's and Stellar Cartography have finished analysing the planet. Apparently, this star shouldn't have reached Blue Giant state for another 600 years. It's within the margin of error, but it still has a lot of people curious, including me. We've also picked up a strange thermal signal coming from a system around 6 light years from here. Once the labs are done here, I plan on moving out to investigate. I only hope that we don't find anything that's in breach of the Prime Directive. There's been enough of those over the last couple of years that should I discover another one, I may just refer it to Starfleet Security and the Diplomatic Corps. One of the re-inforced shuttles took a holoimage while returning to the ship. Computer, upload image SF-1451-25-141.

Captain's Log, U.S.S. Claren, Captain L. Alderman Commanding.I...am aware that this is a professional record, but I find that some emotion with the report will hopefully convey the utter horror of what myself and my crew went throughDelete the entire record and start again, ComputerCaptain's Log, U.S.S. Claren, Captain L. Alderman, Commanding. The Claren is currently berthed at Starbase 146, surrounded by worker bees and personnel in EV suits, armed with phasers, attempting to cut fused rock from the Claren's engineering section. Estimates report that it covers around 34-35% of the engineering hull. As to how the rock affixed itself to the hull, that's a ... depressing tale. Claren was on patrol route November-Epsilon Seventeen, with embarked guests, when sensors picked up a strange energy signature, that was rapidly expanding in size and output. Elevating the ship to Condition Two, or Yellow Alert, an intercept course was plotted which quickly brought us to the Kartari System, and Kartari II in particular. What we found was ... distressing. Attached is a visual image from Claren's sensor array. Having seen this, I ordered a full life sign sweep, which revealed 1,600 souls aboard the moon and falling, with a further 16,000 on the planet Kartari II itself. Before I could order a course set into the system, the moon, for lack of a better word, exploded, with a good portion of the debris headed toward the surface of Kartari II. I ordered the ship seperated, with Lieutenant Commander Guere and Commander Orlay coming with myself to the Battle Bridge, where I would take the Stardrive, answering to Claren-Alpha into the debris, and attempt to destroy as much as I was able to, with Commander Varal, commanding the Saucer, callsign Claren-Beta, making orbit of Kartari II and attempting to save the 16,000 souls currently on the planet's surface. Amidst the solid debris was molten rock, which impacted the Claren and fused to it's hull, resulting in the helm becoming sluggish and a greater number of impacts to land upon the hull. Faced with this, I ordered Commander Varal to finish up within five minutes, before we would be forced to leave the area in order to secure the safety of the Claren. During out engagement in the debris field, several civilian ships launched from Kartari II and attempted to escape themselves. Only one third made it through the debris field. Sadly, we were to late. Some of the debris that we missed made landfall, and the resulting heat flashboiled anything left on the surface. Faced with this, I ordered Alpha and Beta to make to the edge of the planetary system, where the ship met with and connected to the Saucer, where I transferred my command back to the Main Bridge. Moving back in system, avoiding the debris field, Claren maintained an orbit above the remaining piece of lunar body, accessing the surviving installation's computer systems, copy the data, and destroy the installation. I am unaware of the information in the computer, but I did not want to take the risk of any technology falling into unscrupulous hands. A strike of two quantum torpedo's were launched, destroying the installation, before Claren retreated. The final attachment to this log is the visual record of the planet and the moon as we exit the system.

Captain's Log, U.S.S. Claren, Captain L. Alderman Commanding
::Louise is seen sat in her ready room, a cup of something sat on her desk, whisps of steam rising from the mug. Crates are piled high in her quarters, each labelled with the motif of Starfleet Disaster Relief::
Right now, Claren is currently loaded down with what I'm told is 55,000 metric tonnes of disaster relief supplies: Medical supplies, emergency food rations, pre-fab shelters, replicators, food sequences, auxillary power generators, all destined for Deep Space 515, my old posting. Apparently, from the message I recieved from Commodore Romar, they've taken in around 75,000 Lekaari refugees. The Claren is around 4,000 tonnes overweight, which has limited our speed to warp 9, instead of the 9.95 I had planned on utilizing. Still, we'll get there in plenty of time. Initial estimates put us at arriving in 18 hours, assuming nothing unforeseen happens.
In the meantime, I have placed command of APART in the capable hands of Captain Crux of the Methuselah. I am ... weary of handing command to a Centaur skipper, as I know they have very little in the way of Command and Control facilities, but I am left with little choice. I check in daily with Captain Crux, though right now, we're closer to 515 then we are to 146, so I do not know what assistance I could be, if any. I am left to wonder if it wouldn't be worth attempting to get Captain Crux and her staff reassigned to a more able frontier ship, but transfers are not in my remit.
I am ... afraid of the state of affairs that I will find aboard DS515. I have many old friends there, not including Lieutenant Commander Isawa, who I was unable to say goodbye to before I was forced to transfer. The only communication I have had with her was a single message where I was informed, as politely as Isawa is capable, that a long-distance relationship was uncomfortable to her. I do not blame her, nor do I hold her to blame. I am just ... just. Just seems a suitable place to leave that sentence.
As a personal favour to a dear friend, I have had the Claren reach out to the Deferi and the Starfleet elements stationed around there for any ... untoward movements from the Breen Fleet. Other then the mobilization of one of their dreadnought weight vessels, there has been nothing of note lately. I'm sure Commodore Romar will appreciate that, at least. But it does leave me to wonder:
Why the mobilization of a Dreadnought? It is something to ponder.
End log, save and upload.

Captain's Log, U.S.S. Claren, Captain L. Alderman commanding.
I have fallen behind in my logs to Command. As a result this will be a multiple report log. Claren is currently orbitting 146 while several electrical and disruptor scorches are scrubbed from her hull.
In order: While Claren was returning from 146, following our relief effort there, sensors picked up a strange interference pattern. Power emissions from an empty region of space. Following questions as to the ships safety, the Claren diverted to investigate. Several options nominally used to reveal cloaked vessels, as that was our working hypothesis at the time, were unsuccessful and launching an unmanned shuttle into the centre of the interference and the release of warp plasma revealed a nebula. As we found out later, a dark matter nebula, similar to what Captain Archer discovered.
At this time, both shuttle and ship started to lose power. Auxiliaries were brought online and tied into core containment, while engineering and operations isolated the power loss to deck 14, section 12, having travelled through the starboard nacelle, blowing out several large EPS conduits inside the nacelle, resulting in the shutdown of said nacelle. I ordered all power to that deck cut off, and proceeded to the deck with an armed security team.
Upon arrival, we discovered what appeared to be a bolt of lightning, anchored to the top and the bottom of deck 14, leeching what power remained from the isolated EPS conduit before it paused. I attempted to communicate with it, before I, testing a hypothesis, threw my combadge close to it. What I can only describe as a 'tentacle' of energy arced out, grabbing the combadge in it's grasp, draining it dry and moving to the location the combadge was.
At this point, I decided that we could use the shuttle craft in Shuttlebay 2 and 3 as a safe way to remove the creature from the Claren. Running to Deck 13, I programmed all three shuttlecraft with remote courses and launched them, which caused the creature to follow.
Once the ship was secure, I returned to the bridge. I ordered Lieutenant Commander Guere to place all quantum and torpedo munitions, plus the 75 anti-matter mines, to be placed on a 60 second timer, while ordering Engineering to give me warp 9 for 60 seconds. 3 seconds prior to our departure, the munitions were released, providing sufficient energy to the creature's for several weeks, if not more.
At this time, I requested the assistance of the U.S.S. Requital, NCC-629032, to tow the Claren back to Starbase One Forty Six for repairs. I'd like to offer my appreciation for the Eclipse Class in it's ability to warp tow a Galaxy Class starship with minimal problems.
Following repairs, Claren joined the R.R.W. Ishaeri Siur and R.R.W. Yhea Ishae in supporting the U.S.S. Methuselah in driving several Nausicaan pirate craft from an asteroid base inside the Badlands. Claren attempted to order the pirates to surrender, and were greeted with disruptor fire. Acting as Command Ship for APART, I assumed command and ordered the Ishaeri Siur to form up on Claren while Methuselah and Yhea Ishae pushed close and engaged the enemy raiders. Having cleared the local space, I ordered Commander Rokhelh of the Ishaeri Siur to secure the asteroid base.
Once that was done and the asteroid base was deserted, it was scuttled with internal quantum munition detonation from transported aboard.
Following the explosion, all four ships were ordered to return to previous postings.
