Hi guys.
Besides myself, only two people showed up for Exodus today. Obviously, we couldn't have a session with that many people.
For the ship to continue to have exciting adventures we need people to step up.
We need people who can make sessions or notify ahead when they can't make it.
We really need characters for the following positions:
Operations. Science. Medical.
And we also have room for a GM or two.
We are not looking for people who will just roll an alt who will only be there once a week. We want people who are willing to put in the time to RP outside the scheduled shiptime, as well.
If you're new to the fleet or RP in general, don't be afraid, we can help you build a character up at your own pace.
So what are you waiting for?
Let's make history.

I know Christopher Stryker would really enjoy a position on this Vessel.
My expertise would probably be suited to an Assault Squad Officer, and unfortunately would not be very well suited to Science or Medical, but I would be happy to serve in whichever position would best serve the Ship as a whole in whatever rank necessary. Granted with my limited experience on the one Away Team mission I participated in, I held the position of Lieutenant (given, most likely, in order to facilitate an easy Chain of Command for that Mission) I would be willing to proceed in whatever rank would be most convenient for the Crew.
I know that there was a mention of a lack of resources in Operations and would be willing to serve in whatever capacity I am needed, but I do caution that I may need to be guided through some of the finer points of a different career path.

An operations officer is a Jack of All Trades type. You would handle all the systems not directly related to weapons, propulsion, or navigation. These include shields, tractor beams, transporters, communications, environmental systems, and the flight deck. In addition, you coordinate personnel, oversee the ships supplies and such, and operate the ships sensors. Also plenty of room for you on an away team, due to you knowledge of computer systems, and general equipment. Here is the STOWiki page on the Operation Department DOFFs, to give you an idea. sto.gamepedia.com/Operations_department

I confident I can do my best to fit in where needed. I'm just concerned that it may be difficult to explain why an Officer whose experience is generally in Ground and Assault Operations would fit in with an Operations Section. Is there a possible solution to this?
Edit: Sounds like a good plan. I'll talk to you soon, ma'am.

Simple. You received extra training and a new posting to expand your experience. Real life militaries want their officers to have experience in many areas, to give them a better breadth of knowledge, and Starfleet would take those up to eleven, giving the addition of responsibility for leading the way in scientific discovery, exploration, and diplomacy. Starfleet want even its destroyer and battlecruiser captains to be able to handle any of its missions competently, at least in the short term. And Operations, with its tendency to be a jack of all trades position, is ideal for that kind of experience.
