Captain's Log:
The U.S.S. Langley is now slated for extensive refit following our three year mission in Romulan space. My Executive Officer, Commander Davis, has been working tirelessly at ensuring the crew is properly taken care of with regards to leave and transfer request. With the refit period scheduled for the Langley, I am blanket granting all request for transfer to another vessel. After three years of dedicated service under communications blackout, it is the least I can do for the exceptional personnel of this ship.
Yesterday, we held a memorial for all crewmen lost in the line of duty during this mission. It was difficult, especially given we had said our initial goodbyes in Romulan space. I was unwilling to leave the deceased in that region, however, and the bodies are presently en route to their homes and families. This was especially difficult for all of us, Commander Davis and myself especially. We have only recently learned of the deaths of several close friends, including my oldest friend Captain John Sanders. His passing is very difficult for me.
As part of the debriefing process, I have learned that Starbase 146 is currently in enemy hands, though an operation is being planned to retake the station. I do not foresee the Langley being operational by then, but I have offered my services in an advise and assist capacity. It is my fondest hope that we will be able to retake the station with minimal loss of life.

Personal Log:
With Starfleet Command prioritizing the recapture of Starbase 146, it has fallen on me to orchestrate the intelligence gathering aspects of the operation. I conducted a briefing with various officers from the 146th, as well as representatives of the Klingon Empire and the Romulan Republic. The end result is a two pronged plan, involving retrofitting the U.S.S. Fox and converting small vessels into unmanned, unpowered probes. I have had the officers split into groups in order to achieve the required preparations. It is my hope to launch this mission in the next two to three days.
While I find myself missing command of the U.S.S. Langley, I am enjoying my new position with Fleet Intelligence. It is agreeable to have my knowledge and skills put to use in this manner. Perhaps this position might enable me to become eligible for Flag rank. It is something I would discuss with John, but sadly I am forever unable to do so. His passing is very difficult to accept. Things shall never be the same.

Personal Log:
Deep Space Nine received a distress call today from the Excelsior-class starship U.S.S. Westmorland, under the command of Captain Ryan Sommers. The vessel issued a report that they were under attack by an unknown force near the Vlugta Asteroid Field, then Deep Space Nine experienced total loss of signal with the Westmorland. The starships U.S.S. Tiberius, U.S.S. Equinox, as well as the I.K.S. mupwI'Nach and the A.C.D. Lor-Kel were dispatched to investigate.
The Westmorland was located embedded inside an asteroid, apparently having been there since the 2270's. The ship's logs were recovered, and are presently being investigated. It would appear that the Westmorland was transported back to the year 2253, where the crew survived until at least 2271. As there are roughly twenty years worth of logs to review, it is still unclear as to the fate of the Westmorland.
The Department of Temporal Investigations, as well as Starfleet Command have been notified. Until Command and DTI can decide on a course of action, the area where the Westmorland remains is currently marked, with two light years in each direction declared off limits to all non-essential vessels.
Almost as disturbing are the reports surrounding unknown contacts in that area. The Klingon vessel, dubbed 'Hammerhead' in English, reported seeing a vessel such as that at the edge of sensor range. However, the vessel disappeared when the Hammerhead went to investigate. I'm putting an all points bulletin up for the Quadrant, hopefully we can identify these vessels before another ship is lost.
Of course, given that we know Westmorland survived the travel back in time, is the vessel truly lost? Or is she simply misplaced? An interesting notion. I shall have to ponder it further.
