Given my tendency for things to not go smooth during a mission, I highly recommend everyone playing a character on Avalon have certain things handy:
1) EVA suit. You never know when I'm going to send you into a hazardous area, or depressurize your ship, or something equally crazy in the name of plot.
2) Sidearm. Things will need to be shot.
3) Primary weapon. Every now and then, lots of things will need to be shot.
4) Dress Whites. Sometimes you're gonna need to look pretty.
5) Field uniform. Now and then you're going to be assigned to a mission either directly in combat, or one that a normal duty uniform won't make sense.
6) A sense of humor.
7) An open mind. Things won't always make sense. Not everything will be explained. Sometimes events will change based on how you react. Be ready for changes.
Also, be sure to check the forums on a regular basis. Special instructions for each week will be posted, such as where to be, what to wear, etc. Fluff text will usually be provided to give you an idea ahead of time what to expect, provided things go according to plan.
As always, if there are any questions, please let me know.
