Please not that the following changes are just being propose and are not in affect.
Due to story lines introduced in the Season 9 update, there is now peace between the Klingons Empire, United Federation of Planets, and the Romulan Republic.
There is now the question of "where do we move from here". With the Khitomer Accords now in place and the Republic a Signatory, The Pathfinders have been discussing how this affects the fleet. What we came up with is that with Khitomer, there is now a military organization between the three factions (possibly the Ferengi and Cardassian Union) that would operate similar to NATO.
We propose that the Storyteller faction fleets (146th, Klingon 3rd Fleet, and the tentatively named Romulan 9th Command) will be brought in under one chain of command, operating under Vice Admiral Vilaina Starsinger.
This organization will be based probably out of Deep Space 9 or Bajor (so that the Klinks could join) and would have offices on Starbase 146 and the Klingon Starbase and possibly ESD and First City.
This would allow the following:
*During Major Fleet Actions, the Klingons and Romulans can join in the fun. *Officers may take posts on any of the ships in the alliance (Romulans on Klink ships, Humans on Warbirds.). Not that his has been something we disallowed before, but now it's more widely allowed. *Encourage more KDF play by making it a bit more accessible to the rest of the goings on. We can't fix the issue of cross-faction starbase visits, but we can encourage people to attempt to get involved on public access areas.
Thoughts?

Woot Nato! This is an interesting idea and has a great deal of promise to work well with the changes that came with the Season 9 launch!
I'm not sure I'm understanding the position Vil would take. So the idea is to have Vil take Commander of Allied forces in Beta Ursae correct? With three officers under her representing the Federation, Romulan and Klingon fleets in Beta Uesae. The intention isn't to make Vil the Supreme Allied Commander of this NATO idea right?
Or is the idea to make VIL the CIC of the Beta Quadrant?
I'd imagine Star Trek Nato structure would be Supreme Allied Commander -> CIC of the (Alpha or Beta) Quadrant-> Commander of Allied Forces of the (Sector They're commanding) -> Commander of a fleet

As someone who has a couple KDF alts who have fallen into complete disuse I am happy to hear this. I wasn't even aware KDF crew were allowed aboard RP ships prior to this. My bad for making assumptions I guess. I've never been a massive Klingon fan but the fact that their entire faction in this game is so unappreciated and underplayed does make me sad as I have come to enjoy interacting with KDF characters as they bring a different and less finessed perspective to most situations. Also I personally have a distaste for the male character models of almost every Federation species. Whereas KDF male characters somehow seem right. So who knows maybe I'll be trying to get involved with a ship on a KDF character in the future

Rin: Same guiding principle we worked under. Vil won't be Supreme Allied Commander. She'd be in charge of one unit.
I do like the idea of having a Klingon Major General and a Romulan Subadmira II that would be working with her. I like to think of the make up like the 4th Fleet in Deep Space 9. Martok, being a 4 star, was the lead Flag officer, and Ross and the Cretak would work with him towards the same goal while they would also station troops on different ships... Famously with Worf spending most of the war on the Rottaran.

Makes sense to me. So would the command structured be something like this?
Supreme Allied Commander -> CIC of the Beta Quadrant-> Commander of Allied Forces of Beta Ursae -> Vil in command of her allied unit with a rep from Fed (ie: Korzan), Romulan and Klingon to issues orders from there down and so on?

I hate to put a damper on all this talk, but I could have sworn that the Khitomer Accords ((ST VI, ST:DS9)) have not been into effect yet, at least in the STO timeline. Perhaps I missed this somehow while I was playing the mission. All they are talking about is a cease fire and there has been no treaty signed of any kind. While I agree joint operations should be a mainstray, the Federation, KDF, and Romulan Republic would still probably be weary about an officer exchange when the peace is this raw.

Storytellers Lore set the ceasefire much earlier... and in game lore it happened in 2410... in Storytellers lore, this is 2013. Because we had been playing with the ceasefire in effect (most of our Klingon PCs were strong supporters of Federation/Klingon peace too), the Storytellers are treating the current in game ceasefire as the for sure resigning of the Khitomer Accords.

Storytellers KDF lore also has Klingon PCs as some of the most vehement anti-Romulans around, with their position toward the Republic basically being "tolerate for now." As people think about how to RP with Klingons, there is plenty of room for tension. As far as the agreement and the setup of the alliance, I think a certain amount might actually be better worked out in character. Technically, I think that "command" within the alliance would also depend upon where actions were taking place. If in Beta Ursae, that would mean either Federation or Cardassian command. There would thus be sectors where KDF leadership would take precedence, and I assume (haven't run the new mission yet) that the Romulan Republic will still take the lead on the Solanae sphere and within Republic-allied space. There probably are sectors that need to be negotiated (Orellius, for example).

YES!
This is an excellent idea. More military operations means more ACTION (baRP and hanging out is great, but I love doing missions IC)!
Beyond that, RP-wise it's great to work alongside former enemies. I can see a few of us war veterans being a little "Miles O'Brien" about working alongside people we were shooting at not too long ago.
I love it!

As an aside, the FE left us with an intriguing development KDF side: six members of the High Council got de-rezzed by the Reaper Iconian. Who will fill those six openings? Will they endorse the peace made by J'mpok or will they try to sabotage it?

The one who talked was Woldan, same council member who almost got assassinated at the Khitomer Conference during the Romulan story arc and apparently STO wiki matched the other five to the NPCs on the Qo'noS map, so that's Cha'lak, K'lek, Kriton, S'kopa, and Terrath on top of that. King Slathis of the Gorn has a non-voting seat, but apparently wasn't there. In the past on TV, scenes involving the High Council showed more than six, so presumably the six that were killed were the most senior.

Maybe this'll bump up the Klingons to take King Slathis and a few other member races who hold seats onto the council.

The version it showed you makes way more sense.

My suggestion would be to have J'mpok ram it through before the new council members are chosen... which will cause drama llama for the KDF... don't negate a story, use it.

Oh, I agree, I'd just think it'd be interesting if in terms of fleet lore if certain KDF toons get drafted into being on the High Council, whether they want to or not.

Okay... so rather than maintain the tradition of members of the Great Houses being on the Council, we instead give the 'allies' of the Empire a voice. A Gorn, a Leethan, a Ferasan a Nausicaan and an Orion?
Or, as a work around whilst maintaining the tradition, the representatives could be 'recommended' by the Houses who lost those who were their Councilmembers?

Hey, Ferasan would keep the leathean in line. Only other telepathic race there and they're engineered to be significantly superior. Just neuter the Orion's pheremones and you're set.
Maverick gets put on the Council. Oh goodness. Of course, would it be Fleet toons put on the council or what? Would be...unusual to have six individuals on a council of.. how many? I imagine it'd be big-ish.
