"Captain's Log: Supplemental
"Admiral Palmer of the Federation 9th Fleet ordered the Avalon to investigate the loss of contact with the Klingon 3rd Fleet in the Kelvani Belt. After rendezvousing with the starships Rademaker and Ardent, we proceeded into the Belt to discover the remains of a pitched battle between the Klingons and the forces of Breen Pact member Thot Pran. As the accompanying ships scrambled to rescued the survivors and the wounded from the Klingon vessels, the Avalon located the wreck of the 3rd Fleet flagship, the IKS Reclaw. At General Karag's insistence, First Officer Seventeen of Twenty-Five led an away team over to the Reclaw in an attempt to restore what power was possible. However, during recovery operations, Thot Pran's flagship, equipped with a Romulan battle cloak, returned with two Chell Grett cruisers. After...exchanging pleasantries, Pran fired upon the Avalon, however a stray shot struck the Reclaw and triggered a warp core breach. The Avalon's away team and Karag rigged the Reclaw to collide with the Breen battleship and they were recovered before the core went critical. Thot Pran's ship was destroyed; eliminating one of the most prominent members of the Pact.
"The Avalon has rendezvoused with the Klingon carrier Chargh's battle group where we are in the process of transferring the survivors and wounded. Once the KDF personnel are offloaded, we'll be setting a course back to Starbase 146 to repair our minor damage, though not before I take of one more task that may be vital to ending the Pact's threat once and for all..."

"Personal Log: Supplemental
"Everything on the Avalon is as it will be for tomorrow. My sister once told me you could do everything you can in the weeks and months leading up to an election, but on that night everything was out of your control. My brother too says quite often that you win a match during the preparations you make before you take the pitch. Sound advice, but the battlefield is different than the political arena or a soccer stadium. All plans don't survive first contact with the enemy; that axiom was drilled into my head my first day of tactical classes at the academy. It's also something I've seen proven over and over again over the years.
"...eight years? Has it been that long since the war started? I must have lost track of time. This period of conflict by my count is the longest in Federation history, longer than the Dominion War by a factor of four. Our generation's endured far worse than any in the past. The important thing is that we haven't let it change who we fundamentally are. If it did, it would be almost as great of a loss as all the casualties we've suffered.
"Dr. Williams informs me that Lex should be back to normal in three days. At this rate, we'll be exchanging Valentines on Federation Day..."

"The 146th Fleet has successfully driven the forces of Merzan from Jarkonis II. The fleet suffered moderate casualties, but ultimately we prevailed and we believe that Merzan himself died in disgrace. The Avalon herself sustained light damage and has returned to the starbase. My compliments to First Officer Twenty-Five, Science Officer Maus, Tactical Officer Va'rek, Acting Chief Engineer and future parent Wintermane...and Acting Helmswoman Rastalon..."

"Captain's Personal Log: Stardate 90174.9
"Well, the Avalon got assigned the mission I thought would be the least likely given everything we've had to contend with over the last few months: one of exploration of the Zenas Expanse. I suppose after everything the Pact and Merzan put us through we were due, but still it's an unexpected surprise. First Class M planet we came across had a primitive civilization on the surface, one suffering from radiological contamination from foreign artifacts; origin still unknown. In her report, the XO speculated that they could be mere observation devices, which makes me wonder if their source is or is akin to the Preservers. At any rate, 17's away team re-adjusted the devices to prevent further radiation contamination of the indigenous population's water supply and as per Dr. Williams' recommendation we've beamed additional water into the natural reservoirs to dilute the existing contamination.
"We made a few orbital passes over the aliens' settlement for further cultural observations. Their primitive, though we've detected indications of language and even early forms of religion were also noted. Alexis is positively giddy, almost as giddy as when...
"...never mind. With our survey complete, I've ordered the Avalon to resume course deeper into the Zenas Expanse. It feels good to be out here doing what Starfleet was created to do. Let's hope that this mission continues for a good long while..."

"Captain's Personal Log: Stardate 90185.5
"The Avalon is continuing her exploration of the Zenas Expanse and while we haven't found anything quite on par with the new world and civilization we discovered four days ago, the crew remains in high spirits. It's as if everyone's walking through the corridors with an added spring in their step. Well...except maybe Thane and our contingent of MACOs. The shuttle bay tells me work has been completed on our new Delta-class shuttle which I've dubbed the Merlin as a replacement for a Type 8 craft of the same name.
"And word has reached me that Vil's been appointed as the new fleet CO. I don't know if I should send her my congratulations...or my sympathies..."

"...no sooner do I call Vil to offer my...something for her promotion does she appoint me fleet captain for the 146th. It's not an often used title anymore, just a way of designating the most senior captain in a given organization...which I'm sure I was already thanks to my age and time of service. Oh well; I guess if we ever get a 70 year old captain in the fleet, I get to boss him around.
"And no, I'm not letting the fact that I'm only the second Izarian fleet captain besides Kelvar Garth himself go to my head. Lex, on the other hand..."

"The Avalon attempted to retrieve our multispatial probe that had become trapped in the gravitational pull of a subspace rift, an anomaly possibly the result of excessive use of warp travel in this area of space. While we were unable to retrieve the probe, the Avalon barely managed to escape the pull of the rift. As we continue to check for damage, we are monitoring the anomaly for further study and have deployed marker buoys to warn other vessels to steer clear of it.
"Once our status check and survey is complete, we will resume our mission of exploration..."

"Captain's Log: Supplemental
"Stranded in the void between our galaxy and the Small Magellanic Cloud, the Avalon finds herself facing a crisis that puts everything she has faced before to shame. Ambassador Sugihara tasked us with traveling to the remote star cluster just beyond the edge of the Milky Way to sign a treaty of friendship with a species from the planet Frinilin. Upon completion of our task and taking aboard a gift from Chancellor Hockpa we set a course for home. However, during our return trip, our warp core began to overheat, thus necessitating bringing the Avalon to a full stop. Attempts to return to warp proved fruitless for although our throttles were set for warp speed, the ship remained motionless.
"Our internal sweeps found an anomaly; an object of mass far greater than this vessel in the form of a turbolift car that had appeared on deck four. Myself, Commander Maus, Commander Va'rek, and Lieutenant Wintermane investigated it personally. The object appeared to be a vessel of some sort, possibly sentient. While attempting to gain access to our mysterious stowaway, another one, a humanoid, approached us. This enigmatic individual called himself the Wanderer, who by tricorder scans appears to be a being both unknown and powerful, who claims his craft is suffering from a malfunction that limits its ability to travel the third dimension, but not the fourth. The Wanderer stated that he needs our help to return him to his point of origin; where that happens to be he refuses to state. But how can the Avalon guide him home when we can't even energize a warp field? And we still have no explanation as to what's caused our inability to do so coupled with power failures in the stardrive section.
"I've ordered our guest to be taken to sickbay for a full examination by Doctor Williams while a security team investigates our equally mysterious cargo. If it comes down to it and the source of our inability to warp is one of the two items we've picked up today, I may have no choice but to evacuate the chevron section, separate the ship, and return back to our galaxy with the stardrive only..."

"Captain's Log: Stardate 90215.8
"The Avalon has returned to the Alpha Quadrant after our quite frankly bizarre expedition to the Small Magellanic Cloud. A mysterious force hiding aboard the 'gift' beamed up from Frinilin was identified as a predatory species called the Vashta Nerada by the Wanderer killed a member of ship's security and caused several more injuries as it began taking over the lower decks. Faced with no other solutions, I was forced to allow Commanders Twenty-Five and Maus to repair the Wanderer's vessel in exchange for perhaps him assisting us in removing the deadly intruders.
"Then Q appeared on the bridge, where he informed us that the Continuum has a contentious history with the Wanderer's species, which he identified as being called 'Time Lords.' A check of the ship's computer revealed that the Avalon isn't the first Federation starship to encounter these beings, but we are the first to encounter this particular individual. As Q and the Wanderer argued incessantly on the bridge, Twenty-Five and Maus effected repairs on the time ship and the Wanderer and I convinced the Vastha Nerada to depart the Avalon peacefully, though not before the version of our first officer from the future made an appearance.
"We're proceeding back to Starbase 146. Our expected time of arrival is tomorrow. I think we can all use some shore leave after this particular expedition..."
"Captain's Personal Log: Supplemental
"I can't help but think of the Wanderer's final warning, that the Avalon has fewer days ahead of her than behind and that the moment of her demise is 'fixed,' meaning we cannot change what is to come. I don't pretend to understand what he meant; hell, little of what transpired during the past couple of days makes any sense. But I do know this: if there is one starship that can defy the odds, it's the Avalon. And just perhaps he warned us in the hopes that fixed time isn't inevitable.
"In the meantime, I've sent a request to Starfleet Headquarters for detailed records of the Enterprise-D's encounter with the Time Lord dubbed 'the Doctor.' There might be some clues as to what's going on there, though I highly doubt I'll have much time to read anything over the next few days as I feel visits from DTI and Starfleet's Q task force is one of the few things in this life that is inevitable..."

"Members of the Department of Temporal Investigations and Starfleet's Q task force have arrived on the Avalon while we're orbiting Starbase 146. Interviews with me are set to begin tomorrow. Meanwhile, my request to view Starfleet's records regarding the species known as 'Time Lords' is still pending. At this rate, I might as well ask them to send me a hard-bound book.
"...and Q seems to have had an objection with the Avalon's current exterior aesthetics. No sooner do I look out a window at Starbase 146 to find the ship's been repainted as she was when she first launched. Sometimes I feel like I can't win..."

"Captain's Log: Stardate 90235.08
"Responding to a distress call from the USS Fox in the Kavaria system of the Rolor Nebula, we arrived to find the Fox crippled and the starship Meade already on scene. The captain of the Meade informed me of the unthinkable; Itachi Rin, formerly an officer aboard the Avalon and the Fox's captain...was murdered by a Hirogen Alpha whose ship attacked and sent boarding parties over to the Fox. The starships Exodus and New Phoenix arrived shortly thereafter. After a holoconference with Admiral Starsinger, the 146th Fleet is being mobilized to hunt down the Hirogen vessel. The Avalon specifically is backtracking the course of an old Cardassian probe that drew the Fox's attention to the Kavaria system in the first place, possibly bait left by the Hirogen.
"Although there was some initial hope that it wasn't Rin but her imposter who was killed, final confirmation that it was indeed her reached the Avalon a short time ago. She was assigned to this vessel prior to my assuming command and though her time on board was relatively short, Rin left an indelible impact on those crew members who knew her..."
*For two minutes, there is nothing but silence. After those two minutes elapse, a grief-stricken roar can be heard followed by the sound of something wrongly attributed to Admiral Vilaina Starsinger: the sound of the Avalon's ready room desk being overturned*

"...and I find myself hoping the rest of the fleet fails to track down this Hirogen just so the Avalon gets to him. It may take both 17 and Lex to keep me from snapping that goddamn bastard's neck with my own bare hands..."

"Captain's Log: Stardate 90238.08
"With our backtracking of the Cardassian probe discovered in the Kavaria system ultimately fruitless, the Avalon returned to Starbase 146. While there, I learned that under questioning, the woman who has repeatedly impersonated Rin in the past, Lucemara, gave Admiral Starsinger coordinates to investigate in a region called the Taurus Reach during the 23rd Century. The USS Vindicated was dispatched and recovered a stasis pod, upon discovery of which broadcasted a signal on all open subspace frequencies to not open it. The Vindicated brought the pod back to the starbase where the Exodus' AI discovered that it contained a woman only known as Tex; a pilot from the carrier Victory that Lucemara also impersonated. For now, the pod containing Tex remains in the hot labs orbiting Starbase 146.
"I cannot help but feel that this is a game being executed by Rin's imposter, a sentiment that Vilaina shares. What the Vindicated brought back may be another piece of a puzzle, but I wonder if it's not a puzzle piece that'll bring Rin's killers to justice. The Avalon has departed 146 to assist in tracking down the Hirogen warship that attacked the Fox and killed our former comrade. In the meantime, I'm attempting to fill a gap in the ship's senior staff roster..."

"Rin's killer is still at large and as of yesterday, we have a new threat to the interests of the 146th in the form of a pirate coalition in the Rolor Nebula. They've vowed that after their violent encounter with the starship Dauntless a few days ago to not be so restrained when dealing with civilian targets. As much as I'd liked to deal with these...punks personally, that isn't in the cards at the moment. Avalon's scheduled for more standard exploratory duties starting tomorrow. What a sad state the universe I know it is in when I'd rather do something more violent than explore...
"...and it seems the Avalon's still having issues when it comes to the CMO position. Dr. Whitlock, this ship's first chief medical officer and my first choice for returning to that post, is listed as AWOL via my communications with Starfleet Medical. I know her well enough to know that she wouldn't vanish without a good reason, but given the headaches and frankly betrayals Dr. Xereth and Dr. Williams have given me at the edge of a rusty steak knife, I can't discount any grim possibility in regards to Dr. Adriana Whitlock..."
