"Captain's Log: Supplemental
"A Jem'Hadar attack ship arrived at DS9 carrying the Vorta emissary Veraun. After agreeing to jointly locate S'harien's weapon, six more attack ships emerged from the wormhole; three attacking the station and three heading towards Cardassian space. After dispatching the three that stayed behind and a boarding party beamed into Ops, Dr. Whitlock discovered that these Jem'Hadar are free from the addiction to ketracel white and Veraun made mention of rumors of rogue Jem'Hadar liberating others from the white in open defiance of the Dominion and the Founders. The Cardassian Civil Defense Force reports that the three other renegade attack ships are presently in Cardassian space targeting ships of the True Way...but not Jem'Hadar True Way ships.
"I've notified Starfleet Command of the situation along with my concern that these rogues targeted Veraun deliberately. It could be just like 42 years ago, these Jem'Hadar are in possession of the Iconian site we seek and we'll be taking Veraun back to the Gamma Quadrant at the earliest possible convenience. The Avalon and Deep Space Nine sustained moderate damage during the attack, our Vorta guest has been granted quarters aboard ship, and hopefully ships can be dispatched to track down the three remaining rebel ships..."

"The Avalon's expedition to the Gamma Quadrant was postponed due to attacks launched by rebel Jem'Hadar vessels in Cardassian territory. After rescuing an attack ship allied with the True Way under assault from three rebel ships, we encountered the rebel leader: the alternate universe version of Exodus Chief Medical Officer B'Kehla Johnson. She was the one who liberated the rebels from their addiction to ketracel white apparently to raise an army for the Iconians she now worships. While a total of five of her ships were destroyed, Johnson's personal attack ship escaped on course for the Federation/Cardassian border. Starfleet and Cardassian Civil Defense Force vessels in the area have been warned and I've authorized the Vorta Veraun to contact his superiors to warn them that like the powers of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, the Dominion may too be victim of the manipulations of the Iconians..."

"The Avalon has made an emergency stop at Starbase 146 due to an accident suffered by Exodus' commanding officer Captain Tiana RasTalon. At the Ba'ku homeworld, she was exposed to a high concentration of metaphasic radiation, resulting in her age being reversed to that of 15 years old...along with her memories. Pending approval from 146th brass, I've appointed Varal Malfaire as acting captain as Captain...Cadet RasTalon is clearly not fit for command. We attempted to make her believe for the moment that she's still a cadet suffering from some form of memory loss, however a slip up caused her to steal the Exodus for a joyride which the Exodus' AI and crew put a stop to.
"In a strange way, I hope this is a sign that the Tiana we know may not be lost forever..."

"Captain's Log: Supplemental
"Dr. Johnson's forces disabled Deep Space 9 by what we believe to be an Iconian virus before entering the wormhole back to the Gamma Quadrant. The Avalon pursued and engaged them near the star system where S'harien's anti-Iconian weapon was located. The ship herself was temporarily disabled by a similar virus that was somehow brought on board via a piece of equipment or cargo recently. The Excalibur engaged Johnson's forces and once the Avalon's systems were re-started, we aided in destroying her ships and capturing Johnson herself, but not before she beamed down Jem'Hadar who secured the weapon and prepared to activate it. Left with little choice, the Avalon destroyed the weapon with an orbital bombardment of quantum torpedoes. We remains in orbit of the planet until all computer systems fully check out from the virus. Deep Space 9 has been advised on how to purge the virus from their systems while ships from the 146th aid in clean-up operations..."

"Captain's Personal Log: Stardate 90750.2
"It has been a week since the Terran Empire agent posing as a member of Internal Affairs extracted their deep cover operative; their universe's Adriana Whitlock, who was responsible for the sabotage via computer virus of the Avalon and Deep Space 9. Our prisoner, the alternate version of B'kehla Johnson was killed while in our custody, more than likely by Whitlock or IA officer Svolk.
"He was right about one thing in his pathetic questioning of me: I would do anything for my crew. And I will for Dr. Whitlock, even if it means charging through whatever barrier there is between our two universes and blasting the Avalon's way to wherever they've stashed her. Unfortunately we don't know where, but as my experiences with the Terrans' universe has taught me, while there are vast differences, there are eerie and uncanny parallels. Our Adriana Whitlock in her youth delivered a baby boy who'd go on to be the first captain of this vessel.
"Perhaps the Terran version of that child who's sitting in Starbase 146's brig knows something of what's happened. And maybe he's willing to trade his sorry and pathetic existence for my doctor's life..."

"Captain's Personal Log: Supplemental
"While the Avalon finishes her refit to boost her tactical capabilities and install new bio-neural gelpacks, a situation or two cropped up. The first and foremost brings joined Trill who exhibited signs of being fully engulfed by his symbiont right in front of me, Vil, and eventually Captain Gardner. I know the latter has big shoes to fill in light of the fact that his predecessor was one of my closest friends and that Genrin commanded this base through some of the most challenging days this fleet has ever faced. Maybe I'm being hard on him for simply not being Genrin or maybe he's reacting to me because he's a base commander not a starship captain. Gardner must show some promise if Vil pulled him from the center seat to a base command. And he must have been amenable to the job when it was offered; I know I'd be insulted if I was in his shoes.
"The Avalon should be ready to return to service in the next few weeks. I fully intend to avail myself of this downtime with Lex."

"The more time I spend with Lex, the more I realize that with her assignment to the Delta Quadrant that days like this will be fleeting. I, after recent events, find myself contemplating applying for a transfer to command a starship that is part of the new Delta Alliance; preferably one of the new Guardian-class ships. A ship built from the keel up with exploration in mind sent to the furthest reaches of the final frontier, right where Lex will be. For too long I've put my career first and what has it gotten me? A lot of war and no one to come home to. Too many friends dead and only the fact I've survived as my only laurel. Cam, Rin, Gatihis, even Blake. How much longer do I have to spend on Avalon desperately hoping that one day she'll live up to her priomise of the embodiment of Starfleet's mandate instead of being the constant magnet for the worst of what this universe and those parallel have up their sleeves?
"At what point do I say enough is enough and move on?"

"Captain's Log: Stardate 90807.7
"I've had two weeks to digest the events in the alternate universe, events that led to the rescue of Drs. Whitlock and Johnson along with a hundred prisoners from our universe and the presumed destruction of Starfort 641 on my order. An order I gave in light of intel that the Terran Empire intended to invade our universe, in light of the fact my crew created a bridge between 641 and 146 during our escape. I can't know for sure what happened there after we beamed away; the shield failure should have given 641 time to evacuate as opposed to triggering an overload of the station's reactor core. My officers save XO Seventeen of Twenty-Five objected my decision; Chief of Security Thane Va'rek called me a mass murderer.
"The problem is, a logical person can argue that any starship commander in times of conflict is a murderer. How many people are on a Klingon carrier? A Tal Shiar warbird? A Voth city ship? Even a Borg cube? Klingons routinely have servants called jeghpu'wI' aboard their larger ships, but they die just like the warriors to whom they serve. The Voth have citizens of all stripes aboard their larger vessels. And the Borg? One can argue that every drone is ultimately innocent of what the Collective does. And yet we still pull the trigger. We who take lives in war try to reassure ourselves that we were trying to save lives of our fellow citizens, but the only difference between a killer and a soldier is government sanction. I've ordered the destruction of carriers, warbirds, city ships, and cubes more times than I can count in the past without regret afterwards.
"Is it different because the Terrans are essentially human? That many of them have physically identical counterparts in our universe? Or is it something worse? Was what happened at Starfort 641 a symptom of a bigger problem? Has over a decade of conflict due to the machinations of the Iconians resulted in something almost as bad as the fall of the Federation?
"My father was always fond of a quote from a Starfleet admiral uttered during a conflict with the Klingon Empire back in the 23rd Century, a quote that goes, 'For myself I have but one fear: destroying the dream of the Federation.' After everything I've witnessed and been a part of, I wonder if Admiral Marcus Ramirez's fear has finally come to light. Section 31, Admiral Blake's machinations, even our destroying an entire planet just because an Iconian gateway was on it. If our enemy's goal was to make the Federation betray its ideals, its dreams, then we lost this conflict a long time ago. Perhaps that's what makes Sindari's barb from last week so stinging; as much as those of us rail against soldiers for hire, we're not exactly saints either. No one who kills for a living, paid or not, is. In battle, a lot of times we're faced with nothing but bad choices, but in the end we still have to make the choice that gets our people home safe. And live with the knowledge of those on the other side aren't going home at all.
"The Avalon's refit is nearly complete, ironically in spite of my prior ranting is mainly aimed at boosting her tactical capability. I'm forwarding my recommendation to Admiral Starsinger that Drs. Johnson and Whitlock not be prosecuted for treason. They were hostages of the Terran Empire under duress and under threat to their lives if they failed to comply. Furthermore, their Hippocratic Oaths compelled them to render medical aid even if they were found to have treated enemy soldiers. As for Va'rek...he's leaving myself or Commander Twenty-Five little recourse. He was openly insubordinate to two senior officers in a public setting. It is my recommendation that he be put on report and confined to quarters for two weeks, time of service retroactive to the date of the incident two weeks ago.
"As for the Terrans and their pending invasion...we'll just have to do what we've unfortunately been forced to do too often for too long..."

"Captain's Personal Log: Stardate 90818.8
"Avalon's return to service has been orderly for the most part. Obviously the events in the alternate universe weigh heavily upon us all, myself more than most. And as much as I punish myself for the apparent destruction of Starfort 641, I can't shake something: that 641 wasn't a penal colony but something akin to the concentration camps of old Earth. Upon our arrival there and after my failed attempt to bluff my way past their Captain Gardner, he launched a prisoner into the system's sun inside a torpedo. An act that was akin to the worst of what our universe's version of humanity did centuries ago. Something that would have continued if 641 had remained intact. Was everyone on that station guilty of mass murder? Probably not, but destroying the starfort in hindsight seemed preferable to letting it continue to exist with the Terrans in control of it. With that version of Gardner in control of it..."
"Damn them. Damn them for pushing me into what I felt I had to do and damn them for making me constantly question if I did the right thing. I only hope that my attempt of showing them mercy doesn't bite us in the ass in the long run. Like so many other times..."
