Also, in light of the...extenuating circumstances regarding the events of yesterday, I am suspending the arrest warrant for Maus until I'm further briefed by Starfleet Command..."

"Captain's Log: Stardate 90320.2
"It has come to my attention during a debrief on Starbase 146 that Admiral Jorel Quinn, Commander in Chief of Starfleet, went missing following his departure via shuttlecraft from Qo'noS four days ago following the Undine invasion and the end of the war between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. Why the admiral elected to use a shuttle instead of one of the many Federation starships in orbit of the Klingon homeworld, I do not know. What I do know is that under the order of DSI Chakotay, Captain Tiana RasTalon of the starship Exodus has been relieved of her command and incarcerated on the starbase. A team from Starfleet Intelligence is due to arrive at the base any day now to question Captain RasTalon, but I doubt she knows anything specific about CINC Quinn's disappearance. While the admiral was on Qo'noS agreeing to an end with our conflict with the Klingons with Chancellor J'mpok, she and the Exodus had led the majority of the 146th Fleet in repelling an Undine raid against Bajor.
"This suggests to me that the DSI thinks that it's not Captain RasTalon who had a hand in the CINC's abduction, but her father, Rasi Imidail. And that further suggests to me that Captain Alexis Maus, formerly and apparently the undercover science officer of this vessel, is presently involved in trying to track down the CINC while being two days overdo in returning to the Avalon to...make amends with the crew. Lex said her contingency orders were to protect the CINC in times of catastrophe; her sudden departure from the ship during the Undine attack on ESD proves that and I believe her continued absence means she's out there looking for him.
*takes a long pause with a tired sigh*
"...I've gone over all this with Admiral Starsinger earlier today, but for now there's little she and I can do about it. The Avalon's deflector upgrades to improve tactical capability will be completed by 0500 shipboard time tomorrow and that should coincide with the delivery of the new enhanced bio-molecular photon torpedoes developed by Starfleet if we are to encounter the Undine again.
"...The war with the Klingons is over, but the fight against our true enemies is just beginning..."

"Captain's Log: Supplemental
"The Avalon located an asteroid adrift along the Klingon border. In orbit was an ancient spacecraft of unknown origin; on the surface an abandoned Jarkonian listening post. An away team consisting of myself, Chief of Security Va'rek, and Science Officer Ometo beamed down. The only thing of note found was a list of various Starfleet officers, enlisted personnel, and cadets. The list was transferred to the Avalon's computer for cross referencing and a science vessel has been dispatched to the asteroid. The Avalon has resumed her search course.
"And in other news, a malfunction of the waste extraction system attributed to Crewmen Hoskins and Leguizamo resulted in a partial flooding of the port side of Deck 10. The incident is being contained and dealt with while those with crew quarters in that part of the ship are being relocated in the interim..."

"Captain's Log: Stardate 90334.01
"The Avalon has completed another patrol of one of several search grids of where Starfleet believes that Admiral Quinn's missing shuttle might have headed to after it disappeared during its journey from Qo'noS. With each passing day, the likelihood of the fleet locating the shuttle grows slim along with the increase of the belief that the leader of Starfleet through war and peace can only be located through...more clandestine means. For what it is worth, Captain Tiana RasTalon has been cleared by Starfleet Intelligence of any involvement in the admiral's abduction, though I doubt that like myself and Admiral Starsinger that Starfleet has fully acquitted her father, Rasi Imidail, of any culpability...
"Meanwhile, Acting CINC Yanishev is pushing for the Avalon's crew to wear a standardized uniform similar to the one now spreading like wildfire throughout Starfleet. We are one of the most prominent vessels in the Federation, as he says, and the actions of this vessel are followed closely. As much as I believe that a mandatory wardrobe change is...ill-timed at present with Admiral Quinn's abduction looming over us all, he is in charge.
"At least we won't look like bellhops..."

"Captain's Log: Stardate 90336.7
"Impulse engine upgrades to the Avalon will be completed in eight hours and it is our hope that the ship will be better prepared to deal with the currents of fluidic space. I intend to ask Admiral Starsinger to allow the Avalon to test our propulsion improvements in the home dimension of the Undine, which should also allow us the opportunity to scout enemy activity. Additionally, the Avalon's torpedo bays have been fully stocked with new bio-molecular photon torpedoes, both of their recently developed type and the warheads fabricated by our own XO Seventeen of Twenty-Five. There is so much about the Undine's realm that we do not know about, but if the enemy persists in this war, we will have to take the war to them if we are to be victorious. Or in the hopes of forcing the Undine to realize a diplomatic solution is in all our combined interests.
"And on an unrelated note, Acting CINC Yanishev continues to press me to issue the new standard uniforms to the Avalon's crew. While one may argue that Starfleet Command in light of Admiral Quinn's kidnapping has better things to do, I'm rapidly running out of leverage to say no..."

"Captain's Personal Log: Supplemental
"The Avalon is presently moored at Earth Spacedock; Admiral Quinn ordered myself and Seventeen to a private briefing where he explained Alexis' actions and orders to the two of us. While the XO and I understand Captain Maus' actions based on what the admiral told us, convincing the crew and the rest of the 146th may be another matter. And while I am...personally biased in the matter, I am willing to accept what was presented to me and Seventeen at face value. Her orders were to protect Starfleet Command and the Federation Council in an extreme circumstance and the Undine's attack on Earth seems to qualify...
"With that said, there is another note in regards to former members of the Avalon's crew I find even more disturbing. Major Winters of Starbase 146 requested Dr. Whitlock's assistance in trying to deduce the identity of what his message to me described as a former member of the Avalon's crew, both under my command and Jason Hunter's. There is only one person I can think of who fits that bill and if this is somebody's idea of a sick joke, then regardless of orders from Admiral Starsinger, someone's in line for a full spread of quantum torpedoes up a particular orifice...
"The Avalon will remain docked at ESD for two more days. Based on what I heard from a random admiral on Deck 47, it seems we're not the only Odyssey-class starship being recalled for a check-up..."

"The Avalon responded to a distress call from Wolf 359 only to find that it was a trap set by S'harien S'Tarleya. His flagship, the Vreenak, fired upon us but was crippled after a protracted battle. The warbird's crew was captured and the ship was taken under tow, however S'harien despite appearances was not on board. Our boarding party tracked an encrypted signal being sent to the Vreenak from Rator III, where S'harien was presumably monitoring the situation and issuing orders. A prisoner transport has picked up the Vreenak's skeleton crew and the warbird has been picked up by a Federation tug. The Avalon suffered moderate damage during the attack and has returned to Starbase 146..."

This compromise of...a certain section of Starfleet has sweeping consequences. Admiral Granger has returned to his flagship and we've resumed our patrol..."

"I'm happy. This trip to Risa and Lex being here...makes me feel things I haven't felt in a while. And it's not just me; I take a good look around any part of the island and I see the impact this shore leave is having on the rest of the fleet. Vil, Admiral Maxwell-Rhig, H'rela and T'Pal, Tiana and Chris, hell even Sindari and her current companion. Whatever the Risians have going here, it's working. Maybe a once a year visit is too infrequent for people like us who are under constant stress from all that threaten our societies. Maybe one of us or more should to throw latinum at Ed Hunter to see if we can buy this island for our exclusive use...
